Has anyone had any dealings with Knight models refunds/cancellations. I have had major issues cancelling an order with them. I preordered some Harry Potter stuff with them but due to some really terrible circumstances I had to cancel because I needed my money back, quickly. I mailed as stated to cancel, was very impressed within 2 days I got a response saying no problem we will cancel your order but it will take a couple of days for PayPal to issue a refund, 2 weeks later I got no refund. I sent a follow up mail, got nothingback, contacted them on Facebook they told me the mail team is very busy, so I said should I just open a PayPal claim to get my money back instead to move the process along quicker. They said I was well within my rights to do so, I did, no response. Finally over a month after cancelling my order originally I have had to escalate the issue to PayPal themselves to try and get a good chunk of money back, I went from being incredibly impressed with their customer service to massively disappointed and put off buying anything else from them directly.

Is this uncommon? has anyone else had similar issues?

No experience with Knight Models in particular, but I can say generally that a lot of these smaller companies are great at taking money and not so great at giving it back. It's one of the downsides to dealing with small companies. If you ship at Walmart, you're dealing with Walmart policies when you want to make a return. With a small company, you're not really dealing with a policy, you're dealing with whatever random person answers the email. Sometimes that's a win and sometimes it's not.

Given your wait I wouldn’t waste my time with Knight, just contact your card company and advise them of the situation. Assuming you used Creditcard you should get your money back almost immediately, debitcard slightly longer.

The Harry Potter preorder has been a pretty big debacle from a company that's already not the best with customer service. It's always been common to have to wait a few weeks for replies on messages, but over the last few months they've gotten even worse with it. I come from the other side, the Batman/DCU/Marvel games, and what was a strong group has been killed off by their poor effort as well. The Harry Potter stuff seems like a good idea from a cash grab point of view, but not when it's at the expense of their current only moneymaker

I mainly play 30k, but am still fairly active with 40k. I play Warcry, Arena Rex, Middle-Earth, Blood Bowl, Batman, Star Wars Legion as well

I liked Knights. Then they killed their Marvel line (which is what got me in). After that, and I decided to never spend another dime with them, it sounded like they went down the drain. I guess that’s what happens when you trade a gem like Marvel for a pile of dog-gak like Harry Potter.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

TBF Harry Potter is a terrible idea for a miniatures game given the series itself onky features one actual battle and a few other, in wargames terms, skirmishes.

Even then, to get a good HP vibe in game you'd need a lot of world specific terrain.

Giving it to someone bigger wouldn't have hurt either......
