I've just joined the forum in order to get a bit of an idea of whether any of the Warhammer / Games Workshop stuff I am sorting through from my and my brothers' childhood are worth salvaging / selling.

I've gone through the White Dwarf magazines and have found numbers going back to 66 (June 1985) with a few between that and 100 and most I've got here between 100 and 160 or so.

I'm in the UK and was wondering whether they would be worth putting onto the buy/sell pages here or whether they are not really very interesting to anyone. Any help and advice gratefully received!

I love reading old White Dwarfs! However, my FLGS has boxes of them for only a quid each, including ones in this range, so I don't think they are worth much I'm afraid...

edit: to clarify I ment a quid a magazine not a box!

Yeah, they’re a great read but not worth a great deal.

They are worth some great enjoyment, that's for sure. Old White Dwarf copies from 40k 2nd edition-4th edition (up to about 2004) are awesome for both 40k and WHFB content.

There is always some demand, although the cost of shipping and the high supply mean that costs are low.

There's demand for them, but they won't fetch that high a price - and because of the weight involved shipping will cost you mucho dinero.

Locally, I traded mine to other gamers for beer.
(They were after specific issues dating to 2nd ed 40k days - since retrohammer had taken off locally). They were fine with this option.

And that was after downsizing the collection in 2006 when I moved house. Those issues just got binned (resyk).

I absolutely LOVED White Dwarf in the early 2000s. The content value was off the charts.

But old magazines aren't really worth anything. Maybe if they were from a month where they were bagged and came with something special and you have an unopened copy they might have some value. But opened and read, if you get a buck a piece you did extremely well.

I managed to unload several boxes of Dragon magazines a few years back for like $30 and was thrilled to see them go.

There's a guy called Mark Hides on a facebook trading group called "Boardgame and Roleplaying for sale UK and EU" looking for issues 1-100 and offering good money.

You might get someone willing to pay and collect the rest of them via something like gumtree, or at a local gaming convention with a fleamarket. I'm sure you'd get something for them on ebay, probably easier in straight runs than individually though.

The first WD I ever bought was 122 from February 1990! The last one I bought was 161 from May 1993! That covered my original time playing RT at secondary school.

They don't earn collector money, but they sell pretty well on eBay etc.

I tried selling my own collection to him, but after days of no contact ("what's going on" - likes my post, but no response) I found out he'd already bought them elsewhere. Then he said that he wanted more, I said I still had them, he liked that post, and again no contact...
