Hey all,

I'm trying to build a Hellhound from a regular Chimera, it's a very common conversion according to Google. A couple of fuel barrels and a flamer nozzle.

The only issue I'm having is that none of the articles/websites list where they got the barrels from. I've found a few different types but I'm unsure on height to fit on the tank.

Can anyone tell me the length of the area marked in white? I want to fit a fuel barrel into that area where the Aquilla is on the model.
Thanks!

The Armored Containers have 40k style barrels but if you're not looking to spend $50 Tamiya has a couple of 1/48 and 1/32 scale barrels.

That's kind of an odd place to put highly flammable fuel that gets pumped into the vehicle. Better to put it where the passengers would sit:

I did think about doing something like that, but for my first tank conversion and working on a limited budget I'm happy with side-mounted tanks.

The fluff says Hellhounds are driven by pyromaniacs, so I can't see an issue with danger on their part.

I'd also like it to be more subtle in case I want to run it as a Chimera for some reason.

Where did those barrels come from Kyoto?
I do quite like that look, I'm a little undecided about where I want the barrels on the hull.

In the recess on the side is the easiest for me, as I have barrels roughly the right size to fit there.

Tamiya kits IIRC.

When my Chimera turns up I'll have a look at different setups.

I have a set of 1/35 Tamiya barrels (about 25mm long) so I can attach them anywhere they'll fit.

Isn't a conversion even easier than that?
looking at GW's website the Hellhound doesn't seem to have any barrels just a flame turret basically.

Traditionally, the "good" conversions show the barrel(s). For example:

For the record, the new Hellhound definitely has the barrels behind the cab:

They're upright with al distribution system on top

I'm looking for a middle ground between those two, which is why the side-mounted barrels appeal to me. It's obvious enough if they're painted red or yellow, but not so much it takes over the entire tank.

A flamer nozzle and some barrels is all I'm attaching, I might even try to magnetise the barrels.
