So we all know that shooting attacks made by noise marines during the fight phase using their “music of the apocalypse” rule benefit from “death to the false emperor” because the latter applies during the fight phase with no other restrictions (which was confirmed by the FAQ).

What about Excess of Violence?

It says you use it before an EC unit attacks in the fight phase - so does this mean you can use it in the fight phase to make extra shots for models killed by your Music of the Apocalypse shots?

If so, I’m guessing that, unlike DTTFE, you are confined to just one shot rather than the usual three for a sonic blaster as it specifically says “hit roll”.

My first instinct is to say no, a "shooting attack" is not the same as an "attack" made in the fight phase, but this is a common problem and it's due to GW overloading the word "attack" with too many meanings.

In short, we don't have enough information to answer conclusively.
