Long story short, I've not played Infinity in about 6 years, back when I had a poorly planned out JSA army that basically lived and died on the back of a Haramaki link (RIP). But as unknowledgable as I was at the time, I enjoyed the game itself immensely and might have a chance to get back into things soon. Now, the game's changed a lot since the good old days.

Anyway, the group I'd be looking to join in with comes from a more competitive background (while I think the Infinity community itself would be less established, most of the players would be more Warmahordes and less Warhammer 40k, if that makes any sense), so I'd want to hit the ground running with something that has the potential to perform at least somewhat viably. With that in mind, here's what I've managed to figure out out so far:
