Hey gang,

Putting together some CSM Raptors, and since the Raptor Champion can take two items from the Champion Equipment list, I contemplated giving him a powersword and a chainsword. Mostly because I was goofing with spare parts, and it makes the model look sick.

Any thoughts on why this would be a bad idea?

The unit is better as a shooting delivery system so I'd say the best option would be a combi plasma. But if building for melee that sounds decent.

Why not power sword and plasma pistol. Since you can shoot it in CC, a plasma shoot woud better than a chainsword attack.

One raptor champion isn't turning the battle all on his own no matter what weapons you give him. So do whatever you want and whatever looks cool.

For looks, Power sword/ chainsword would look cool. For gameplay, you need a shooting option. I like combi-plasma personally.

You can technically do both. Model him with both swords for looks and strap a combi-plasma on his back for WYSIWYG.

Chainswords are iconic to Marines - go for it I say.

I went with double Plasma Pistol. Gives him a gunslinger look which I enjoy. Its also roughly as effective as a combi-plasma gun, just a little bit cheaper and easier to get bits for.
