I've had a few Kharadrons now since December; SC and Skyfleet box, and I've used them a few times now, but they just don't come anywhere near to being as fun as my Skryre stuff.
I'm finding that to be due to how /meh/ their crazy tricks are when pulled off. There's some funny things the Kharadrons can do, sure, but the rewards for doing it just aren't really there.

What's everyone else finding to be the best things about using them?

I've had a go with Brokk's mad run and charge with arkanauts, and tried out using 12 Endrinriggers backed up by other harpooning things, but as hilarious as it might be seeing them zip about, hardly a thing really happens when they get stuck in.

Arkanauts shouldn't be charging. Ideally you take 3 skyhooks to sit there and shoot things. But even with 3 harpoons they still want to sit in cover/next to a ship and let the enemy come to them. They are a ranged unit that can do a little bit of melee, not a full on hybrid unit.

Endrinriggers need a Khemist (there is a reason he costs 160 points--he's that good) buffing their melee weapon to really put out the damage. Even then you want to use their movement speed/grapnel launchers to do flank charges and not hit the opponent's main line where they will die too quickly to make their points back. Remember that even the more durable Kharadron units cost a lot of points per wound.

The one tournament build for Kharadron is clown-car, something that's very effective but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for.

They aren't risk-reward in the same sense that Skryre is, everything is set and the best way to go is to limit randomness as much as possible. Skryre on the other hand is going to be random no matter what you do so part of the strategy is packing in a large number of random things because on average they are high-reward for the risk but having too few risks losing if the blow up. So I can see how you find one army fun but not the other.

Also Skryre has Stormfiends which are totally OP right off the bat without needing to do anything fancy.

It's easy enough to see what the Kharadrons can do with their unit synergies; just moreso a case of just finding something I can do with them where it /works/.

I've had, I think, about 11 matches with them now, and I've only won 1. All the rest have had me wondering why they just don't do enough, not even with synergising stuff.
Skryre things do their job fine in their own right, as a baseline; actually reliable at getting their points back, or at least close to. Not managed that with the sky stumpies yet.

Best performances I've had is with Mhornar. The Opportunistic Privateers trait is seemingly what's needed in order to actually get anything to die.
I'll admit, I'm caught up with metrics like Stormfiends and Hellpits.

The most enticing thing I've had a go at through proxying is an Ironclad jacked up with Endrinriggers and Endrineers. Similiar enough to what I enjoyed most with my Taghmata stuff.

Keep in mind that until the 2nd ed points reductions frigates were kinda bad and gunhaulers were horrifically bad. At least one ironclad is auto-take, if you haven't been running one that's part of the problem. The army doesn't work well without the ships and the ironclad is the best option. I've heard of a 3-ironclad list doing decently at tourney play even (though not like clown car).

An Ironclad with Mr. Starstrike definitely looks like a good bet.

I've been having a gander at the Arkanauts with skyhooks, and I'm wondering why I wouldn't always take another unit of them over a Khemist, unless I was representing Urbaz.
Likewise with taking a Khemist for buffing Thunderers; I'd just take more Thunderers.

I bought a bunch of their models before 2.0 dropped, and regret it as from what I can tell they did not come out in good shapewith the new edition. One YouTuber I watched said GW basically took them behind the barn and shot them :/

They got a bunch of point reductions, some rather significant. While the no-shooting-out-of-combat change is bad for them saying the army has been taken out back and shot is hyperbole.

Clown car lists were basically untouched, and everything else had a points decrease.
Win all over, really. Not to mention that Barak Nar can have 18 dispell chances in 1 round at 2K points.

Plenty of snazzy gear to give them what they need. Just still suffering a bit from things like Volley guns not being on-par with Skyhooks, as always.
