I could finally try the new stormcast. Army list was basically what's in the box. I only used 2 of the Castigators as Evocator-proxies and 2 Liberators as Seqitor-proxies (to get to the required unit size).
Opponent played Seraphon. Here's my first thoughts on the starter-box army:
Lord Arcanum: Didnt get to do much in the 2 rounds the game went, as I managed to fail on all casting attempts :(
Knight Incantor: Managed to kill 5 saurus guard alone with spells. Surprisingly, my opponent didnt have any casters, but i think the auto-unbind-scroll can be a life saver.
Sequitors: Did you know great-maces hit more often when attacking deamons? Did you know seraphon are deamons? They managed to slay one of the big dinos and I only lost one of them.
Castigators: Died round 1 because of a teleporting seraphon hero on big dino. Whyy can lizards teleport one unit per turn, while stormcast cant :( ? Still, they are the cheapest unit and acted as a great bait. Will test them next time.
Ballista: Turn 1 - lizard hero on dino killst castigators, ballista shots him, two hits, which turn into 11 wound rolls. I guess I should get at least 3 of those nice little war machines
Evocators:
WTF! I put them in reserve, so i couldnt cast their spell (turn 2 they failed), but I did manage to get them into melee with said dino-hero-lizard-guy. 21 attacks on 3+ that wound on 3+ are impressive already, but after your combat phase you get to roll 2 dice for each model in the unit, and on 4+ they do a mortal wound. Thats an average 5 mortals! They managed to get 4 regular wounds in, followed by 8 mortals. Both of us (opponent and me) were shocked how effective evocators are, and they're even cheaper than retributors. Next turn they killed a whole squad of saurus guard. Opponent conceded afterwards.
To make it short: ballista, sequitors and evocators rock!
Looking forward to my next game (and getting 2 more ballistas and 5 more evocators
)
