Pretty straightforward, I've seen a lot of Eldar lists for ITC taking the normal 20 - 1 squad configuration (so 19 guardians and 1 platform) in order to not give up the extra secondary point. My question is: do the platforms count as models for this secondary, so that to not give up 2 points the squad would need to be 18 guardians and 1 platform (19 total)? Or do the platforms not count against the unit number, and if so where/how could I back that up if pressed?

Is this an ITC specific question? If so, just ask the ITC people. They have the ultimate say over their house rules.

Not talking about ITC rules here, but 40K rules: the Heavy Weapons Platform is "a model," in every conceivable sense. There's not a word in the rules that would support any conclusion other than 19 Guardian Defenders + 1 Heavy Weapons Platform = 20 models.

Again with the caveat: I have no idea what the ITC rules say.

A unit of 19 guardians + a heavy weapon platform is indeed a unit of 20 models.
Just like how a unit of 4 tactical marines + a sergeant is a unit of 5 models.

All you need to do if pressed is look at the datasheet for guardians. It lays out how the unit is structured fairly clearly.

Thanks for the replies. That was my read on the rule and what I figured the answer would be. I just saw enough lists with the 19+1 format that I wondered if I was missing something obvious. Appreciated.
