A while ago i stumbled across a tutorial to turn a Necron Wraith into a scorpion, it looked amazing and i was running short on conversion ideas for my necrons so I gave it a go, only difficulty is when it was done there was only really one unit i could represent it as, the canoptek tomb spyder....
Not a fan.... Not a fan
Now i realise this s probably a popular conversion with Cron players so i thought about coming up with a proposed rule profile for it that filled a niche in 40k that I don;t think has been touched on much, Objective defense, without further ado.
Fast Attack

Subterranean Guardian: A Tomb Scorpions primary purpose is to guard essential workings or devices of a tomb world and often burrow beneath the ground, remaining dormant for centuries awaiting interlopers with its advanced seismic detection systems. Instead of deploying normally at the beginning of the table the scorpion may be placed in reserve. You may interrupt your opponents turn whenever an enemy model/unit ends its movement phase within 6" of a objective marker. The scorpion may be placed D6 inches away from the objective marker. If his would place the scorpion within 0.5" of an enemy model the scorpion counts as charging in the subsequent assault phase.
Threshing Claws
Range Type S Ap D Special
Melee Melee User -1 d3 N/A
Impaler Probe
Range Type S Ap D Special
Melee Melee User -3 d3 One (And only one) attack per turn, Hit rolls of a 6 inflict d3
Mortal wound on non-vehicle units in addition to normal damage
The idea is to give the typically quite slow to re-deploy necrons a chance a protecting objectives, the scorpion is unlikely to wipe a concerted effort to take a point but it will deter using throw away units to cap easy points. Please note the deployment rule does NOT get around the FAQ limitations on deep strike charging turn 1 so you cannot use it to get into combat turn 1 with a unit that deployed next to an objective
No idea on the points for it....
