Hi, I’m looking at expanding my Custodes army and I’m a bit torn. At this point I’ve built 9 Custodes (some SS/SB, most GS), Trajann, a Shield-captain, 3 alarus with axes, 3 Vertus Praetors, 1 Vex Praetor, 1 Contemptor, and 1 Land Raider. What I’m wondering is whether it’s more sensible to buy another Custodes box, or another Vertus box. The first would just be to beef up my infantry, while the 2nd would probably be 1 shield-cap, with the other two giving me a five man Vertus squad. I’d consider other options, but see very little use in Wardens (very open to discussion), and I’m not sure how alarus would out-value the Vertus. I have a few Land Raiders I could build, but they seem too pricey in points for what they bring. I also have an extra contemptor I could paint up. Any opinions are much appreciated and I’m open to new ideas. Thanks!

Defintly go with the bikes.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Definitely bikes. Preferably another 2 boxes, they are just the best unit we have by far.

2 squads of 4 + captain on bike, trajann, 3x3 guard + vexilla is a strong list.

Thank you, what do think on armaments? I’ve been going all hurricane bolters. My next box I’ll magnetize. I’m trying for a take all comers list. Do you think some salvo launchers are in order?

Hurricane bolters are your best bet. Volume of shots is king in this edition.

If you have a spare Contemptor, and have access to some bits, you may want to consider converting up one of the ForgeWorld Contemptor varients. The Exemplar variant would be easy enough (just convert the multimelta to have Lascannon barrels) and adds some decent ranged ability (along with some NICE plasma-flamer attacks). The Achillus is also brutal with the spear it can take.

I do love the hurricane bolters. They seem a little painful to give up, so I’m glad to hear it. Can I use the Exemplar or Achillus? I have a Galatus coming, but didn’t think I could ever really use it. I also have a Telemon who might fit the bill. At least there I have the experimental rules from FW...

The Galatus doesn't currently have rules but I'm sure people would let you proxy.

Hurricane Bolters are decent, but it doesn't hurt to have a couple of Salvo Launchers scattered about.

Hurricans.
You need a lot of Salvo Launchers to actually make a dent. (like half a dozen to kill a Rhino).

Also you don't need to magnetize them anyway. Simply don't glue the guns in. The front of the bike should be snug enough that the guns can just be clicked in and out.

Thank you guys, I’m really starting to feel solid about this list. Also thanks for the tip on not magnetizing, you’re absolutely right!

Forgeworld has said they will release rules for all of their Custodes models, including the Galatus, in the future as well. We don't have a date yet, but keep that in mind.
