I’ve am theory-crafting a 2000 point Scion list, and I think a mechanized infantry could work for them. But, I’m not really knowledgeable about the idea, and so far, from what i have seen, most people only do mechanized IG with either Armageddon or Catachan.

I’m thinking I’ll be running 3 Valkyries, 5 Taurox Primes acting in transport, tank, and infantry shredding roles, and so far theorized, 4 five-man Scion Squads, and 2 ten-man Scion Squads. Is that enough troops compared to vehicles?

Of course, I will be running 3 Tempestor Primes and 3 Command Squads as well.

You are of course aware that by taking tanks and such in your force, your scions wont be able to take their storm trooper regiment abilities.

Incorrect. The doctrine loss rule only applies to detachments, not armies. Storm troopers in Tauroxes in one detachments, Valkyries in a separate flyer detachment, doctrine bonus preserved.

Anyway, the problem with mechanized IG these days is that there's little point to it. You can't shoot out of the fire points anymore, and mobility is of limited value when you can deep strike directly to the target for free. TBH you're probably better off using the transports as pure gun platforms with no troops inside and deep striking the infantry.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

That was a problem I foresaw. How about my ratio of troop units to vehicles. Is it enough? Do I need to split one or both of the big squads?

I think the issue is that they saw you use the word tank, and assumed you meant Russes and chimera chassis.

If you're only using Taurox primes as ground vehicles, and Valkyries, just put the valks in a separate air wing and you'll be fine.

Though if you find the points to add another HQ (commissar) you can split the list into two stormtrooper battalions, and an Airwing for more command points.

Curses and drat! You've thwarted me this time, you pesky Peregrine!

But yes, don't skim and critique an idea at 1 AM...

Now that I think about it, I haven't given scions enough attention to know if they're worth the points trade-off on your regular infantry as space occupiers. Would you start deployed and drop them off on objectives? Do some or all have heavy hitting weapons?

Two of the three command squads are all armed with plasma. They will drop with a Tempestor Prime with the Laurels of Command.
Two of the 5-man squads will bring plasma, and the others will bring hot-shot volley guns. They can either start in vehicles or be dropped in. I want to be able to escalate my threat levels in different areas at different times, so probably a bit of both.
The two 10-man squads, or one, if I decide to split it, are armed with volley guns, and they will either be in a vehicle (Valkyrie probably) or drop onto an objective with the warlord.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Ig can put out great mech infantry lists using superheavy transports. CRASSUS ARMORED ASSAULT VEHICLE or a stormlotd if you want to also pack some shooting.
