There's this great Ridge Trolls Kickstarter out there, and the trolls look fantastic for 9th Age troll action:

I always wondered why GW didn't do a basic troll box, or even a Stone Troll box, and these harken back to those gorgeous sculpts!

I think making River Trolls markedly better than any other variety kind of jacked the chances of viable basic Troll or Stone Troll boxed sets from every happening. I personally think that River Trolls and Stone Trolls should have basically small negative penalties to the common Troll stat to make up for their abilities. Make Stone Trolls tougher, but way slower instead of Magic Resistant. Make River Trolls have a lower WS and Toughness due to the nature of the slime, including poor grip on weapons, footing, etc.

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

Basic troll were superior. They were cheaper and kept the core rules that made trolls so effective. Stone and River trolls had gimic bonus rules. Stone trolls magic resistence was useful but didn't matter much as wizards would target something else, River trolls rules are situational.

The price upgrade savings of basic trolls were significant over the course of building a sizable unit. Often enough for something notable like an extra rok lobber or chariot.

These trolls rank up guys.

Not just for 9th Age then, these are IMHO better than GW trolls. Move over Sourbreath Troggoths.

I want these for 6th and 8th WHFB. I might make a Throgg's horde army.
