I’m looking to build either a Seeker or Vet squad for the Death Guard army I’m building. I have my big Tac blobs and just wanted to add either Vets or Seekers in a Rhino. The loss of sniper hurts the Vets but they still have lots of options and seem to fit the all jobs mentality of the Death Guard. But on the flip side they can get costly fast and the Seekers got a nice drop on those combi weapons.

So if you could just add one squad, which one would you go for?

Fast attack options in the 14th Legion arn't a huge concern to their tactics and behavior.
That being said however, seekers really are only important when taking the Creeping Death RoW (HH6) With its battle field wide 5+ cover save
If Typhon/Mortarion are able to take the World Burner Warlord Trait, Seekers become all sorts of headaches, adding Mortarion's free 4+ poison to the combi-grenade (at 5pts btw) will scare most sane Space Marines into treating them as a legit Distraction Carnifex.
Tac-vets are more important if you're using the Reaping RoW more often.
Choose wisely.

I’m leaning more toward Vets, especially as I’ll be running the Reaping over Creeping Death if I do a Rite of War.

Thanks for the advice, now to figure out how to equip my Vets.

Pretty much the same thing.
Bolters if you're keeping it affordable.
Combi-flamers and H-flammers to take advantage of chem-munitions.
Combi-Grenades and Missile Launchers, for....reasons.

I'd say to pretty them all up with chest upgrade packs but this one company in the UK, (and I'm not naming names) removed them all.

Primarchs can't take warlord traits.

I like Machine Killers/missile launchers/flakk/Rhino for Veterans. They're not great at killing anything but they can threaten almost everything.

That is a lot of chem-munitions. I like that idea!

Seeing as most of my army is in Mk IV, the Vets will be MK III with some FW helmets to set them apart. Torsos would’ve been nice too.

Combi Plasma Vets do some serious damage. They WILL delete a unit.

But why take them over seekers? They can both take combi's right? So they'll both delete the aforementioned unit but Seekers will do it better and do more after IMO.

If you want ten Marines with combi-plasma I absolutely wouldn't take TacVets over Seekers; for 45pts extra you get Marked for Death, BS5, Precision Shot, and special-issue ammunition for the loss of some melee attacks and some special rules. Veterans are a unit that can be built to do a lot of different things, but stuffing them with expensive gear and stacking them up against specialist units they're not a better option.

You grab TacVets to have a flexible unit that can do a lot of different things without dumping a huge amount of points into them.

I’ll be going Vets with heavy Flamers and maybe combi Flamers to take advantage of chem munitions. Fun and fluffy for the Death Guard
