I bought a unit of Spirit Hosts but apart from being an absolute pain to put together they don't really sit right with me, mixed in with the rest of my army they look out of place, very fun unit to actually field though so I am looking at alternate models for the unit.

My first thought is to simply take a 50mm base and put multiple ghosties on it with a gravemarker or two, some bushes etc, As to that I have a few questions I am hoping to pick some knowledgeable brains for answers, probably most important is - is it legal?, what i mean by that is could I take these models into a sanctioned gw event, I personally wouldn't mind facing an opponent with stand-in units provided it was clear what they were but when it comes to my own army I prefer to keep to organized play guidelines.

Provided that it is legal a few options I thought of was Zombies, Painted up ethereally I think they could make some really nice mob looking units, a bonus is that a full unit of 3 could be done from 1 box and have 6 per base, Skeletons, again painted ethereally they shouldn't look out of place next to some of the newer nighthaunt units, said units seem to be largely based around skeleton frames as is.

I Came across the Warriors of the Dead and think they would be amazing but I am leery of the 25mm tag, I am not experienced with LOTR minis at all though I think AOS in general is 28mm and while my mind says 3mm shouldn't be all that noticeable I don't think mini scales are literal, is their a massive difference in the sizes?.

Any other suggestions for appropriate models would be welcome.

naa, any model that is not GW is not legal in their own events to bring. if your going to use stand inn, find yourself a local club or play at home.

reason to why spirits dont visual mix is GW designed 95% of the NH army from 1 single model: cairn wraith.
but what you could do if your not afraid of possibly destroying the models is heat up the "tail" whit a hairdryer and bend it to whatever shape you see fit.
you have to be very very carefull and do it in stages tough.

There are also a number of larger death kits that could have stray spirits clipped off them to make swarms; Nagash, Mortarchs, and the Mortis Engine kits come to mind. Might be available from bitz sellers.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

I'm painting up basically 3-man dwarf Avatar of War slayer models that will be jumping off of stuff/floating to use as my spirit hosts. Mostly because I made a vampire out of the unforged model and gave him wings and want a "division" of my army to be one he leads
