Hi all, I’ve been invited to play kill team next week. I don’t have the rules but a friend is going to teach me how to play and if I like it I’ll pick them up. I’m thinking of using nids. Can anyone give me some advice as to what models I can use and in what amounts (I don’t want to lug my whole army with me)? I have the following things:

Hormogaunts
Termagants
Genestealers
Gargoyles
Tyranid Warriors
Zoanthropes
Venomthropes

Can't speak for it's effectiveness, but a kill team of 4 Lictors is certainly on my to-do list.

I like that quite a lot of warrior builds clock in at 20 points.

I am more unsure of how to mix them. If you have just one or two gaunts thry will be focused and game over.

PS: Do the flamers roast things in charge? If so 4 lictors might be bad.

You've already been told what models you can use, so I'd go with a little suggestion. Personally, I'd go with a Warrior, 5 Genestealers and 5 Hormagaunt.

Flamers often have an 8" range. Charge things outside of that range. Take Adrenal Glands for the +1 to charges to get them off more often.

Also, always take at least 1 Warrior. Synapse is VERY GOOD.

Genestealers are better than gaunts. Lictors are very expensive for what they do and can whiff hardcore. Termagants are not very good unless you're facing armies with low saves, like Orks, or other Tyranids, or sometimes Guard.

Mix a little bit of everything. If you don't have a Lictor, focus on at least one Warrior, a few Genestealers, and then the rest of Gaunts with Adrenal Glands.

Both stealer and lictor can not take adrenal glands though.

I want to test out builds with a Warrior focus because they can be kitted out in the sideboard better than any other Tyranid unit.

@teschio - I like the warrior, 5 stealers, 5 hormogaunts suggestion. Sounds like a good mix of stuff so will hopefully give me a good idea of how to play!

I was able to get all the Tyranid tactics from the box set and I laid them out very simply on a standard 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 table to make it easy to print and sleeve as cards. Ideally I would just post them to BGG files but I am not sure if this violates any rule. Also, I am not sure if sharing the resource openly is allowed here. Perhaps this is why the Great Devourer created Google docs and PMing...

I suggest a genestealer (leader) w ext carapice
Warrior (comms) with venom cannon
Then fill with termigaunts and genestealers
