Armed men attacked a convoy of cars carrying the US envoy to Bangladesh in the capital Dhaka on Saturday night, US officials said.

Ambassador Marcia Bernicat and her security team were able to get away unharmed, but two cars were damaged.

It comes as thousands of students and school children continue a week-long protest calling for safer roads.

Police used tear gas to disperse crowds on Sunday. At least 50 protesters have also been injured in street attacks.

Local media reported that political activists belonging to the governing party beat students marching towards their offices.

Protests in support of improved road safety have resulted in violent clashes between government officials and students. There are reports of injuries, rape, rape + murder, and more of the same. Apparently the government has shut down internet connectivity to some degree. Video evidence has reportedly been taken down on YouTube and Facebook. Injury count is 115+.

Has to happen? Has to? What?

If reports are accurate there are 40-50 women imprisoned by the government's attack dogs. There are already multiple confirmed instances of rape. One student had his eyes gouged out. The government has shut down most internet service and sent out an alert that the violence is anti-government propaganda. This is actual abuse of power and fascism.

It's things like this that make my five year prediction for something big happening seem less like me being pessimistic, and more like me being really observant or being really...well not lucky. I mean who wants to be right about that? But seriously, all this because someone doesn't want to write out traffic laws.
