Hi All -
My son and I just pulled the old red-box X-Wing off the shelf so we can re-learn how to play. His new friends have the v1 set as well and we want to start up weekly (or more) games.

our Rebel team only has the starter X-Wing and 1 A-wing expansion pack -- Current we are running the X-Wing with Luke and R2, and the A-Wing with Tycho.
Everyone has plenty of Imperials - TIE fighters, TIE advanced, TIE Striker, Gunboats, TIE Interceptors...

But we want to play 100pt games - so if you only had $15 to spend, what Rebel/Scum ship would you buy next for fun, casual play?

TIA!

The Auzituck Gunship, or the Sheathipede Shuttle.
For pure fun, I love Ello Asty in the T-70 X-Wing, but he isn't super competitive.

Are you willing/able to proxy the upgrade cards you need?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Auzituck Gunship, T-70 X-Wing or E-Wing get my votes, assuming you are proxying stuff.

If you're looking for cheapness, then eBay has some great deals. If you're happy to print your own cards or just use smartphone apps, then you can get them cheaply as miniature only, or the best value deals I found were 2 packs of x wings. With the new buffs for x wings They will.probably work well enough, and who.doesnt want to run Rogue Squadron

I totally want to run Rogue Squadron. =]

But "researching" youTube - I gotta say that t-70 looks like a hot little number.

The T-65 is a lot more versatile now.

Only time will tell with 2.0, but with Renegade Refit, Integrated Astromech, Flight-Assist Astromech and Servomotor S-Foils, you can turn any good ol' X-Wing into a nice fighting machine. Cheap too.

With all the new bells and whistles helping with repositioning, Wedge is a total murderbeast, as he should be

A bit of a fragile one, when someone correctly identifies him as such, though.

Decisions, decisions. I may have to flip a coin on deciding between the T-65 and T-70. I do love that x-wing look, so i’ll be happy with either choice - and can easily proxy one for the other...

Thanks for the input everyone!

Personally, I’d add a Y-Wing or B-Wing. You have an all-rounder - the X-Wing and a pursuit/interceptor in the A-Wing. The Y-Wing adds turret options. The B-Wing adds heavy weapons and both Y-Wing and B-Wing add bomb options.

It never ends well

Indeed...Although I have been toying with Ello Atsy buffs in the Aurora Squad Builder app.
But a turret does sound good. People on YouTube speak speak ill of the HWK-290...but I love the Dark Forces nostalgia. Y-Wing vs HWK-290?

Here at home I will probably proxy everything I want to try with paper standins. Then make a purchase at the end of the month to feed my plastic addition.

Both the HWK and Y have some utility (though both are better in the Scum faction), if running a HWK then Twin Laser Turret or Ion are a must. It is worth pointing out that the Y is about to get a new model on September the 17th which means you could probably pick up the old one cheaper/might want to wait for the new.

T-70 Ello Atsy rocks...

Hwk-290 is only spoken ill of by the misinformed. Kyle + recon spec is fun and Jan+Death Rey is evil. You do have to figure in the cost of a turret and I recommend tlt or ion. And though I prefer his svum equivalent Roark pretty nifty too.
