Hello.

A friend and I have been looking at this game with interest. We'd like to get a couple of other folks involved but the biggest hurdle is the extended play time.

With both have IRL commitments that will make all day play sessions a rarity.

With my cats and his small children we can't really leave a board set up mid game during the week.

Does anybody have any methods for 'saving' the game state?

All I could think of was taking a few photographs between bouts.

Photos are your best bet, along with plastic bags for players' hidden cards.

Could you mount the map to something? Say, blu-tak the hexes to a board that you can put away somewhere? Then, get some post-it notes in colours matching the forces and write one listing the pieces in any given hex (write the hex name on there too, if you're worried about them falling off).

You can save the game state with photographs, but be advised that there's a significant set up and tear down every time you play. Try for a couple of 3 hour sessions.

When I ran my store the TI players would book out 2 6x4ft tables and ask me to open from 10am to 10pm. It wasn't too much extra hassle for me. Could this be an option at your flgs?
If not then perhaps booking the tables for two consecutive days/evenings during opening hours.
I know you mention that a full day is a rarity but it really is the sort of game that you'd only want to play a full day of every few month imo.

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.

I've had Twilight Imperium sitting in my attic for over 6 years waiting for the time, space and people to play it.

We have a boardgame club at work, but we only have an hour during lunchtime.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
