Planning on trying out Necrons at the Nova Open this year, and this is what I've cooked up so far; just hunting around for ideas or pointers if there are any to be had.

The Tomb Blades will be the Engineers for the format, T5, -1 to Hit, and a 3+ save base making them fairly durable for the investment, plus they can still jump around 20" a turn and shoot as needed.

Nephrekh Necrons Battalion
HQ: Overlord (Voidblade) = 90
HQ: Cryptek (Staff of Light, Chronometron) = 95
Troops: 5 Immortals (Tesla Carbines) = 85
Troops: 5 Immortals (Tesla Carbines) = 85

Detachment Subtotal = 440pts

Mixed Dynasty Necrons Outrider
HQ: Orikan the Diviner (Warlord - Hyperlogical Strategist) = 115
FA: 5 Nihilakh Canoptek Wraiths = 275
FA: 6 Nephrekh Destroyers = 300
FA: 6 Nephrekh Destroyers = 300

Detachment Subtotal = 990pts

Nephrekh Necrons Outrider
HQ: Destroyer Lord (Warscythe, Phylactery) = 131
FA: 3 Tomb Blades (Particle Beamers, Shieldvanes) = 81
FA: 3 Tomb Blades (Particle Beamers, Shieldvanes) = 81

Detachment Subtotal = 568pts

ARMY TOTAL = 1,998pts

Why Orikan vs a cheaper Cryptek? You have no other Sautekh units, so apart from empowerment, there's no advantage to the points spent here.

How will you be tackling heavier targets? Outside of the Destroyers, you don't have any AT; combat and outlasting?

Any considerations as to your free relic? I suppose that will probably be scenario/opponent dependent?

Orikan is a replacement for a second D Lord that was originally in the list; I like him because after empowerment he's got roughly the damage output of the D Lord, but for a cost that sits between the D Lord and a regular Cryprek, who would be doing absolutely nothing in the list. I wanted a Sautekh character for the Warlord Trait and Orikan can do that as well as the job of the mixed detachment's D Lord.

Heavier targets such as Knights I move to lock up with the Wraiths and either slowly beat down or just keep out of the game.

Either Nanoscarab Casket on the D Lord or Veil on the Cryptek, for the first Relic, I'd bet.

Even though orikan is only little more expensive than a regular cryptek the chances of him getting empowered are pretty low. Most games are over by turn three. In turn 2 your chance is 16,7% and in turn 3 its 33,3%. You could spend CP to re-roll, but i dont think its worth it. Orikan doesnt have the movement and he cant FLY like a dlord.

Maybe most of your games are over by turn three....

He's an infantry model so he can get through all the terrain at Nova just fine, so the only issue will be total distance and chaff blocking; I'll have to be more cagey and steady with him. Not a huge issue.
