After reading 'Master of Mankind' (A superb novel, as an aside), I finally cracked and boarded the Custodes bandwagon.

I usually prime in a light grey, but I noticed that GW's 'How to-' for Custodes uses a Black Primer, which is obviously just their standard primer. In the video, Duncan paints Retributor armour straight over the black basecoat. My question is, will Retributor armour take as well over a light Grey?

Further to that, if not, then would it be worth base coating with Abaddon Black, or with Rhinox Hide (Which may give it a warmer tone)?

Now with 100% more blog: 'Beyond the Wall'

Most of their current videos have the model undercoated with Mechanicus Standard Grey and occasionally with Corax White. They rarely use Chaos Black any more.

I just prime them with GW black spray, then airbrush Vallejo Glorious Gold, leaves a very good colour to work with. I tend to just stain it with GW Earthshade.
