Subject: [750] - Ultramarines - team tournament - help!

Stalwart Ultramarine Tactical Marine

Hello,
in September there will be a team tournament, 750 pts at least 1 detachment for each player (teams of 2 players). It is casual enough for me to give it a shot! I'd like to use some parts I am finishing painting which are ultramarines infantry.
---
Battalion
HQ
Captain, master crafter bolt gun (-3CP chapter master) 77pts
Liutenant, master crafter bolt gun 63pts
Troops
2x Scouts, 4x combat knives + sergeant 55pts
1x Scouts, 4x bolt gun + sergeant 55pts
Elites
1x Apotechary 55pts
1x Company Ancient, standard of emperor ascendant 67pts
Heavy Support
2x Devastator 2 lascannon, 2 heavybolter, 2 normal body, sergeant, 161pts (one with cherub +5pts)
OR
1x 10 Hellblaster squad 330pts (in this option I should remove a master crafted bolt gun)
---
The other player will probably go imperial guard with 2 tank commanders, 3 troops, a couple of hellhounds.
---
The basic strategy would be to camp the back and shoot I guess, not a lot of mobility now that I see it.. mh...

In a team tourney, my experience tells me that taking two complementary armies is key, say one shooty and one fast moving army.
E.g., you take the Scouts and not your buddy.

If it's random match ups I think you'll struggle? if you know your partner and their list this will be fine; he can bring the infantry/speed/mobility...

Allright, so if he takes the leman russes, hellhounds and the cheap infantry I should take scouts and razorbacks? So maybe instead of the 330 pts of heavy I should try 2 razorback with 2 tactical squads?

Yes, I know my partner will play 750 pts of tank commanders, hell hounds and simple infantry, maybe vostroyan maybe catachan.

Should go mechanize in low point games. 2-3 razorbacks. Should be good.

Thanks for the call, I see the point, is there any difference in the fact that we will play 750+750? It would be a 1500 army, just lead by two players and every single detachment can be at most 750 pts.
330 can also fit 3 razorbacks? I think so

Do you have combi-plasma and plasmaguns? I prefer that loadout on 5 man squads, a lil more expensive but mobile and hits with a punch
