Boom! Leman Russ Commander

Saw this on a board, wanted a rules clarification on it....

Ork unit charges a unit of marines.
Marines have a character who heroically intervenes.

Player claims the ork unit does not go first ( and potentially go last, not sure how) because of the intervention.

Can someone explain how this scenario would come about?

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

If the character had an ability or rule otherwise to cause the charging Ork unit to fight last, or after the character, perhaps.

I'm the absence of any particularly relevant such ability or rule however, no.

They weren't playing Space Wolves with the previewed relics and stratagems, were they?

Edit: referring to the Armour of Russ, in case that wasn't clear.

Even then, if that is the only melee, the Orks would still go first, as they now fight as normal, and the ork player gets first activation.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

I also cannot find a situation where the Ork player, since it is his turn, could not pick his orks to fight first.
This is the only circumstance I can see getting this result. The Ork player charged his orks AND say a character into Howling Banshees, the opponent then heroic intervened with Jain Zar. Jain Zar of course has the Banshee ability to always fight as if she charged, so could be picked during the "chargers" segment of the opponent's fight phase as well as the Howling banshees near her...but still the Ork player chooses first. Unless the Ork player chose to fight his character first, then the opponent chose Jain zar or the banshees, and the ork player did NOT chose his orks next (perhaps choosing another combat he found more important)...then they would have fought last in that combat. There are other's here, say the Orks were wiped out before they swung...but something isn't right.

(edit) Just found the Armor of Russ, and that does basically do what they said.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

There are certain abilities like the DE Haemonculus Vexator Mask that can prevent Charging units from going first.
