Does the +1 to initiative stack with multiple solar engines? Can I field 3 of these dinosaurs and (assuming a unit is under the influence of all three) get +3 to initiative?

on the forum. Obviously

No, it does not.
It states "one or more" in the rules for the solar engine. Ergo, it does not stack.

Ah, I see it does. Too bad but probably for the best.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Depending on edition you play you may be limited to two anyway.

Two Solar Engines will be enough artillery to finish a target, one is not enough. So there is value. If you didnt glue down you can swap one for a snake dispenser.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Two Solar Engines also cover a lot of ground with their auras. Its a 6" bubble, which means that if you have them at most 12" apart you could have a nice ~24" zone of +1 initiative.

Well, in theory at least. They killed Warhammer fantasy before I got a chance to use mine, and I have yet to find someone who'll play 8th ed with me :/

Didnt mention that because I couldnt remember off the top of my head how big the bubble was. Yes multiple 6" auras are significantly better, if they are worthwhile to begin with.

Still you don't buy that dino for the augment, it means very little all told, it is there for the ray gun.

Corpse Cart, Warshrine, Altar of Sigmar and Celestial Hurricanium are all worth huddling around, the Solar Engine not so much.

As buff wagons go, its fairly weak but with a nifty gun, a bit like the Luminark, but in a faction that doesnt get cannon, and thus more important to the faction meta.

You have double the chance of surviving Purple Sun. That's why the +1 initiative is important. I mean, its still only initiative 2, but at least Saurus would have a 33% chance of survival rather than a 16.7% chance of survival.

Buffing initiative from 1 to 2 is basically insignificant and barely useful at all.

It will save 16.7% more models from purple sun, but honestly most of your unit is dead anyway.

It's like going from strength 9 to strength 10, is there a difference? Yes. Is it worth it? No. Baring some very specific circumstances.

Initiative 3 Temple Guard are worth a look though. You are striking the same time as base humans, and before orcs and dwarfs with your halberds. That has to count for something.
It also boosts Purple Sun survival to 50%. Still a gimic though, just Purple Sun something else, mop up core saurus.

You need the Solar Engine near your Slann anyway as its only Ld6.

Personally I would take just one Solar Engine, the augment is incidental beyond select line ups and the Bea of Chotek takes up power dice, too many and it draws focus away from your toad.

I have not bought any lizzies yet, but when I get around to them I will buy only one Bastiladon, and I might not bother magnetising. Though that is because the snake dispenser is best modelled with extra snakes on the base and snakes crawling down the dino.

Yes, I forgot that temple guard are initiative 2. That could make them useful against certain enemies.
