I recently finished up more miniatures that had been sitting half complete in the paint queue for months now, this time some of Eureka Miniatures' Soviet Motorized Infantry. I had started in on the flesh and blocking in colors when these were delivered and set them aside, only to collect dust. I'm glad I picked them up again to finish because, like most of Eureka's works, the detail is super crisp and a joy to paint.

Eureka does some great stuff. Those look awesome! That gas mask infantry look super cool and would even fit in well in post-apocalyptic wasteland type setting, even though they're historical miniatures.

Its a pity that the range has some discrepancies in the height of the figures. With the NBC suited soldiers coming out closer to 25mm, as with some of the unsuited figures (even with the raised base one of the sergeant figures is still smaller than a Spectre Miniatures figure. I have the RPG gunner that ancientsociety has and he's really titchy). Though its hardly like there's much in the way of figures from that period (at least at a decent quality, i.e. Mongrel Miniature's set isn't great compared to modern manufacturers), so you take what you can get. I suppose they scale better with the 1/56th vehicles that are out there, but even then nowadays a lot of the vehicles are in 1/48th, so you'd be wanting to use taller figures where possible. :/

I think that's because these two sets have different sculptors. From what I understand, the NBC troopers were much earlier releases, before they had a regular sculptor (Kosta Heristanidis) to do most of the Moderns range.
