So I didn't get the new super knight with nipple guns because Titanicus was coming.
I didn't get Titanicus because Rogue Trader Kill Team is coming.
I won't get RT KT because Blackstone is coming...

Anyone else finding they're turning down this month's offerings because there's coming better coming down the pike?

Also, not unrelated, does anyone else feel like GW is flooding the market with products to crowd out anyone else?

I don't know how anyone can keep up with the flood of new games and lines.

I don't think so, I think they're finally at a poitn where they're offering something for everyone.

I didn't buy the super knight because I don't play 40k
I didn't buy AT because it was overpriced
I don't care about Rogue Trader

But I've bought Soul Wars and pretty much each wave after because I actually like the new stormcast design.

There's always going to be completionists who want it all, but there's also always going to be some customers turned off by any one particular release. GW is just now coming out with enough stuff that if you don't like one offering they have 2-3 others.

Now how sustainable that pace is I dunno, that is something to worry about.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

I think all of the new stuff is great, I love seeing them put out so many new games and awesome models. The variety GW has now is really great. Looks like they are trying to put the games back in workshop.

At the same time though, yeah, I can't keep up either. I just hope that they are in it for the long haul with all of these games, and not be a sold out & gone thing like Space Hulk.

So there's two games coming out in the same month? Well, I'll not buy all of them, then. Maybe I'll buy one and play it properly, leave the other one until later, a month when there's nothing new I want, perhaps.

Does anyone complain that Asmodee have too many boardgames out? Or that there's too many Xbox games out, or whatever?

My concern about too many games is lack of support. Suppose you find a game you really like, but they are moving on to something else? One of the things I loved about old GW was articles covering new rules, scenarios, etc for existing games FOR YEARS. I only recently picked up a White Dwarf for Adeptus Titanicus, and while I was pleasantly surprised with the content, if games keep coming out with I don't see them spending a lot of time on something thats even a few months old.

I used to love binding all those old articles together.

Support for the original Adeptus Titanicus lasted... less than a year, before it was all subsumed into Epic as a whole. (rules for Warhounds and Reavers, rules for Eldar, and the Codex Titanicus supplement, which was half and half titan rules and infantry/vehicle rules). After that, all the new rules were for the smaller units, with the exception of a single article with rules for new titan weapons, over two years later.

No. For every one person that prevaricates and procrastinates, there's at least one who's buying all the things.

Besides, GW won't worry too much if you buy this thing or the next thing, what's more important to them is you don't go off and give your money to the other guy.

Well hopefully andy hoare isn't dumb enough to send the game down that path again. I do worry about these new/and revamped games GW keeps pushing out. It's like they are throwing poo at the wall to see what sticks. I do appreciate that they are letting me know what is coming so I can plan for it. When they used to just pull stuff out of nowhere and surprise I don't have money. But I can see what the OP is saying. Because I know Delaque is coming, I skipped Van Saar and Cawdor despite loving the models. But in the end I think i'm still spending the same amount of money on GW, it's just that i'm not impulse buying the new hotness of the month, and then being fethed later. I'm carefully able to pick and plan what I want.

Yes, because I've sunk my hobby budget $$$ into Kingdom Death preorders through 2019, maybe 2020...

GW doesn't matter, because I've already sunk my hobby budget through 2019 into Kingdom Death.

I felt that way in late spring/early summer, but its settled down now. Turns out there was a batch of releases that all appealed to me, but now it'll probably be a bit before there's something new that really excites me.

I think their current releases are cannibalizing their present. There's just too much to keep up with, even just the things I would be interested in. But that was true back in the day, too. I mean, I bought models for Warmaster, and I don't think I ever actually played it. Played Battlefleet Gothic a bit but never finished painting my fleet.

Then again, didn't stop me from buying the stuff. Lots of people just keep buying stuff even though the last thing never got finished. There's a balance to reach there, though, because if people feel like they can't keep up well enough, they might just stop playing. Or at least focus on fewer games and buy much less stuff.

This is the greatest thing anyone in wargaming can learn.

It's humanly impossible to keep up with everything, but FOMO seems to be a common and strong motivator amongst wargamers.

This. Getting on the Formation bandwagon was a bad choice on my part, as was getting more than a couple of any non-basic / Core / Troops unit, as was growing any of my armies signficantly more than "tournament" size. Fortunately, I (eventually) limited the number of games and armies I collected.

I am interested in many of the new shinies, but I have a rule for GW products that I need to wait at least a couple of months before I purchase anything, and even then I want to make sure I have a BL book or two lined up to keep me interested on the project. Nothing worse than finishing all the Eldar books with an Eldar battle force only half one third finished and running out of steam.

I'm finding that I'm actually prioritizing GW releases over other purchases. Like, I was interested in Infinity's Operation Coldfront and the Song of Ice and Fire miniatures game - but I decided not to in favor of Kill Team releases. I've even skipped out on video games, and that NEVER happens (this is less GW's doing than the video game industry increasingly becoming terrible).

There have been some GW releases that I probably would've bought, if not for having new GW releases to buy. There's some easy build AoS stuff that I wanted, for example. So I can see how GW is ultimately its own competitor - I wouldn't mind a light month or two to catch up - but mostly, GW is just sucking up all the cash I would've spent on everything else.

It’s mostly LARP doing that for me.

Last even I needed a new skidlid, gloves and a warm robe, because god awful weather on the Sunday. That added up to £200, on top of petrol and ticket price.

And my new money spinner idea will require a £500 tent, four chairs, eight buckets, bluroll and some means of reliably heating water, on demand.

All comes out the same hobby budget. But it must be done, for I shall buy ALL THE MING.

I agree with this. GW used to be ignorable for years because they never put out anything I wanted but recently the variety of releases means there is something I want. New LoTR being the latest.

I don't think they can really release "too much" stuff.

If you're turning things down because you're picking and choosing what to spend your hobby money on, they're probably still getting your money at the same rate as if releases were fewer and farther between.

Meanwhile they make more sales to picky gamers who aren't interested in a lot of the releases (because there's more likely to be one that the do like), and more sales to the whales who just buy everything.

Personally, I wasn't excited by any of the recent GW releases, except for Tomb Kings made to order and several odd audio books. Like...
Custodes? Compared to FW Custodes? Really?
Fishkin? Meh
Khaine? Meh
Souls Wars? No thanks, have a bunch of Night Goblins to do.
Knights? Ye, ok, but just because I have all the FW Knights.
Titanicus? Whatevs, too expensive.
LOTR - Would be cool, no one plays it and no ones interested besides me and maybe one other guy.
Kill Team? GW y you not support SW:A??

I don't know why people think that SW:A was ever going to be supported. They made one run that sold out in minutes, then never made any more. We even knew ahead of time that it was a limited product, which is why a bunch of us were sitting there refreshing our browsers for the store update. Due to demand, they did reprint the rulebook - but other than that, the only times I've seen GW admit it exists, is when clearly stating that Kill Team is the (supported) successor to it.

I jest... this post is in good spirit not mocking, but it’s interesting how perceptions can change, and in such a short space of time since GW started sorting their act out.

Well its gotten me exclusively interested in Gamesworkshop games again. Everything else has been put onto the backburner: SAGA, D&D 5e, This is Not a Test...

For the last 6 months, all I've been interested in is Middle Earth SBG and Warhammer 40K.

My only concern (and so far it's not founded on much) is that GW will run into the SKU problem. They already produce a huge amount of products. I hope their fervor for constant releases does not end up axing older products too soon, if that makes sense.

There are flash in the pan things which are really obvious (no offense, but SW:A was never going to be a long term product), but there are some of the boxed games I'd have really liked to see stick around. I wish GW would concentrate more on replacing some older lines with modern dual-purpose plastic kits so we could get rid of a bunch of older SKUs and it would actually streamline GW's logistics a bit. Sadly I think GW is past revisiting older models now and except for a few...they'll be doing "new" items instead of remaking some of the older units.

Seems to go in waves for me.

Nightgaunts caught my eye, and I'd done some recent purchases of Stormcast to use as custodes, so Soul War was shoe in for me. However, I'm never going to pay $115 for that new coach, as sweet as it looks. Hoping about 6-8 months down the road it will be put in a Nighthaunt start collecting box, for $85 + a handful of other minis.

And I've always loved mecha, so I've been trying to keep up with Adeptus and the new knights. Warlord & Castellan have been eye-watering expensive, so though I'd dearly like to get them, I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

A few months ago, when it was all Chaos all the time, I wasn't interested one bit. I'm guessing when I get caught up on the recent releases for knights and nighthaunts, there'll be a long dry spell for me again with no GW purchases. It's the nature of the beast.

It never ends well

At my store almost no one bought Titanticus as it's just too high a price point for a game that will functionality barely be played. This is coming from a store that has 50 40ker players on Friday nights and has 15 gaming boards for open play, IE very large store.

I have a comparable feeling as OP I think.

I considered getting into Necromunda or getting into Bloodbowl a bit more seriously but there's no playerbase because the couple of players that play the game will be on to next month's thing a month later. I hardly have the time to paint the models up..

Instead of that 'will I buy into.. but next months thing is so awesome' to me is more 'will I buy into.. no because next months thing will be this thing's death'
So I just stick to 40k/AoS/30k.

If that’s the case, I doubt they’d have stuck with a Necromunda campaign anyway.
