They've lost so much good will from me that I'm treating the next one as any other big budget popcorn movie.
All the excitement of awaiting the next one has been bled dry.
More interested in how JJ even approaches landing this badly damaged flight than the movie itself.

For some bizarre reason Smith - a man who looks(and acts) like his own Madame Tussauds waxwork came to life - is considered quite good by some people?
Eh, why not, given where things are with the sequels they might as well chuck anything and anyone they can find at the wall and see if any of it sticks.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal
I for one, am excited to see him join the ranks of the First Order. Can't you just picture him as an Admiral opposite Hux, being bullied by Kylo Ren?

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
This movie is going to have a lot of actors in it! With the OT cast, Sequel cast and now a lot more additions I am worried it could get a little bloated. Chances are that people like Matt Smith and Dominic Monaghan are just going to show up as more than a cameo rather than a whole new character which I would be fine with.
I did enjoy Force Awakens and thought JJ did a good job appealing to a new and old audience alike so hopefully this movie can bring the franchise back from the bizarre turn that TLJ took.
He's actually quite good in The Queen, playing an older, more serious role. I woul like to see him in a serious role, maybe an older Admiral who is disgusted at how the First Order is acting. Or even something similar in the Resistance, like an advisor that fought the E pire the first time around.

Gotta say I'm the same. I didn't care for Force Awakens and then The Last Jedi put a bullet in the back of my enthusiasm. I'm more anxious about future spinoffs than the "real" franchise now.
Yeah nah, not even interested in Star Wars anymore its not fun, its not a good watch its just depressing.
(Before anyone says anything I enjoyed Last Jedi, I just.. ugh it was a chore to watch through the second and third viewing to see why I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have).
It does not bode well that anything in these movies is just bleh.

Is!'t Matt Smith the young guy who wore a fez? How is he older or more serious than Hux? Just because he's not one of the tweenyboppers JJ hired for the TFA First Order doesn't mean he can credibly pull off older and more serious. There is a hard ceiling to the competence level of JJ Abrams' characters, and Matt Smith is no Pete Postelthwait-caliber actor to surpass such a limitation.
But since Star Wars post-ROTJ is dead to me, sure why not?
He was a lot more dour and serious ( I think) as Prince Philip on the Queen (Queen Elizabeths husband, to us Americans) than as the Doctor. Would be a nice counterpoint to 'screech till you're red in the face' Hux.

I'm not, because I'm not in that position. Still excited for the next movie, as I've enjoyed the hell out of Disney's efforts so far. And I'm keen to see what Smith is doing in this one.
Most famously he was Doctor Who for several years before Peter Capaldi took over.
He also played an Olympic oarsman (coxless pair) from the 1948 London games, for which he had to learn to row. (And I can tell you from experience, the coxless pair is not an easy boat.)
Yeah, I almost asked for a recommendation that didn't involve sitting down and trying to get into Doctor Who, but I think I'll just wait and be surprised

Well, most of us that no longer have an interest in the series didn't just get bored with it and find something else- it was the series itself that got a lot of us disgusted. The way the series was handled in the last few movies drove most of us away, so yeah- people are going to have thoughts on it.
I used to be a huge SW nerd. Had figures, played the RPG's (tabletop and vidya), and I probably spent a good chunk of my life on the X-Wing games. Hell, I think my hard drive was full of mods, skins, and other stuff for Jedi Academy.

The joke was that, despite what was being said, people didn't seem to have been 'driven away'. Any Star Wars thread on here has droves of the same posters coming in to talk about how much they don't care about the series any more, usually right after it starts.

Well, yeah. Along the same lines of "God I hate 40k so much, I'm glad I quit after 3rd edition was done!" being all over everything. Yeah, dude- you totally hate 40k now that's why you're all over literally every 40k conversation right now and spewing your opinions about rules.
A lot of people are just disappointed. I'm pretty sure if some changes were made, or something new came along I could get interested in it again. But right now, it's really hard to have enthusiasm or even interest in something the way it's currently being handled.
Hell, I just ordered a joystick for X-Wing. I like 'Star Wars' enough, just not the new movies. I'm still butthurt that KotOR didn't get a proper trilogy.
I'd recommend looking at him in The Crown. He's a very credible prince, and I think a performance like that would lead to a great higher up in either military- though I'm assuming he'd need to be First Order since the Resistance presently consists of the Falcon and 20 or 30 dudes.

I might check it out, thanks! Odds are he's not going to be a super-pivotal role anyway, but if it's a good series, it's hardly time wasted.
