Newbie here. Stared with Cygnar and settled on mercs but why does it seem everywhere I turn I see people selling off their Menoth? The fluff is cool, the models look good is it the stats?

A few thoughts

1) PP appears to be going through an odd phase - their plastics lost them some fans, their MK3 rules lost them some more and when the Magic the Gathering judges started to sue Wizards of the Coast and demanded pay for their work; PP dropped their Pressganger system (it did have some faults but helped keep local games going at many clubs) and nuked most of their own community forums. They've also just dropped their physical magazine as well.
So PP is going through some odd phases; plus the game has changed form a small skirmisher into a larger army based game so that has changed its nature a bit.

2) Because you started Menoth you're actually paying attention go Menoth stuff more so so you're seeing some unconscious selective bias. It's the same as if you buy a car - you'll suddenly see the same type/brand everywhere whereas before you won't be able to recall seeing many if any. It's not that there are more cars or more people selling off Menoth its that you're aware of it and actually looking for it now (perhaps to buy up cheaper secondhand models).

3) Don't worry about it too much. Collect your army; paint them up and go to war on the tabletop! PP aren't going anywhere even if there are some rocks in the seas at present; and as long as you've got a local club that plays that's all you need to get stuck in

Menoth had a rough go rules wise early in 3rd, from what I’m told.

Personally, I don’t care for the models. My preferred factions are (in order) Retribution, Circle, Khador, and Gators.

They might be selling off more, as they’re a less competitive option right now?

I did not start with Menoth. I noticed when I started looking for Mercenary war jacks that they were going for almost as much or in some cases with shipping, more than retail. Menoth jacks seemed to be going for almost nothing. In one case an ebay auction for an entire Menoth army ended without a bid, no mim and actual shipping cost. Really? Nobody even bid a dollar for an entire army? I'm still months away from being good at Warmachine, I've only beat experienced players a couple of times so I'm not looking for a 3rd army just yet. I might pick up the entire Menoth range if people are just dumping them. They can always get a better rules in the future and I kind of like a challenge anyway.

Most of the cheap jacks for menoth on eBay are the starter jacks and every menoth player has at least 2 or more of each. 2 player starter box from MK2 featured most of those cheap jacks you see on eBay. Other models you see, vassal, choir, big book, etc are almost always the first support models every Menoth player first picks up so every menoth players has those, so they just flood the market

Menoth is in a weird place, they are extremely strong right now and have excellent options for almost any kind of list you'd like to play. But for reasons that are beyond me they really never seem to get talked about.

People are so focused on Cygnar, Cryx, and Legion that the stuff that menoth brings to the table really just seems to get overlooked.

I'm getting ready for the LCQ in a couple months and menoth is pretty much #2 for gak I dont wanna see lol, they have some bonkers lists.

No clue why people are selling them, but if its because they thing they arnt competitive...thats just dumb

I love my Cryx, finally gave my menoth to my son. I have about $200 new in box and couldn't get $60 for it on ebay... it's bewildering.

TBH for certain factions it seems to be a buyers market out there. I have picked up some almost illegal deals off ebay for Trollbloods over recent months.

This is also a bi-product of the CID cycle. Faction that have not had a CID for a long time seem to go for cheap online as people follow the "new hotness" and dump everything else to pay for it. As soon as a CID is announced the models in that CID are snapped up as people prepare for the new update.

Also the mystery boxes that PP did to clear out old models for the warehouse resulted in a glut in the trading and ebay market for certain models as every man and his dog suddenly had the same batch of older models to shift if they didn't get the faction box they wanted.

If you were still looking to see you Menoth I would wait until the next Menoth CID is announced and then put them up for sale again

Alternatively you could play Menoth and make them more desirable by winning and crushing face.....
