Question is as the title shows.

I'm curious and wanting feedback. If you're a regular tournament goer that hit's up multiple over a month to only doing say 1 a year, how long do you spend in preparation. Whether that be painting, list-building or practice games (the latter being the more important one I'm curious about here).

Reason: I'm part of a University group that will be taking part in an Inter-University competition. That event isn't for 8-9 months away and, in the case of 40k, will likely have changes to it over the course with releases of things like Chapter Approved 2018 and however many FAQ's come along.

Cant speak for 40k but I am a pretty hardcore x-wing tourney player, I have played in many events and travel long distances to do so. Generally I tend to get in at least 50 games as practice for an event, 20 or so to fine down my list and then the rest practicing against variations of whatever is the current meta.

On parle toujours mal quand on n'a rien à dire.

I might paint something new using the tournament as an motivation to paint but that's it.

2024 painted/bought: 109/109
