Do you double the strength and then add plus one or do you add plus one then double?

The first page of the designers commentary FAQ explains this (if you need a reference). It says you must determine the models strength first: So you first apply things that modify the actual strength characteristic (multipliers or dividers and then add/subtract as per math) THEN you use weapon modifiers. So you should Add 1 to the models base strength THEN the weapon applies and you double that. (3+1)x2 is the math. So 8.
