I'm finally getting a Hive Tyrant and would like to build it without wings for aesthetic and transport reasons. I'm curious just how viable footslogging Hive Tyrant is? Also, what would be a recommended set-up? My army consists mostly of infantry broods, zoanthropes and an occasional Carnifex.

Thanks for any input!

They are not competitively viable. For the points, adding wings is just too good. You are prone to be shot off the board, which wings mitigate, and you will not be able to get in range to threaten the opponent fast enough, which wings mitigate. I'd reccomend magnetizing. Or, if you just want to have fun, don't take the wings anyways and enjoy your tyrant being cheaper. Slap a Venom Cannon onto him and a pair of MRC, plus AG and TS, and run him in the middle of the horde with a -1 to hit source handy.

I use walkers in Hive Tyrant heavy lists for my ranged tyrants. They don't want to get close anyway and I've already got threat saturation with the other 2 winged tyrants.
