Yes. I think it is. People should go watch this.

I joked that it looks like a female Punisher, and with Jennifer Garner as a bonus!

I think there are some really problematic elements of this movie, to be honest. I'm good with the premise but the execution feels like lazy red-state pandering.

Thats wierd. Its exactly the plot of punisher. Its a action movie with that plot. No reason to bring any politics into it.

Unfortunately, Elbows, you're right about that.

I think I'd catch it on Netflix for curiosity's sake, but I barely have free time as it is, and have a thousand OTHER things that I'd rather watch/play with any moments I can squander.

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

I wrote a couple of different responses on what I thought was problematic with the movie from the trailers I've seen and the reviews I've read, but ultimately I think a movie with a solid 13% on Rotten tomatoes speaks for itself.

If you haven't seen it, check out The Brave One; because it's similarly themed and you would probably like it if you liked this.

I normally don't enter this kind of discussion and topics because it is the typical USA political climate, but with reviews like this (And a 8.1/10 from users), I don't know what to think...

(Theres more honest critics that criticise it as a movie, of course)

Bright, the one with the orc and Will Smith, was also full of racial stereotipes, etc... I believe this movie has been picked by the critics for whatever reason. It has happened before.
The Warcraft movie, a movie that I love, from a franchise that I love (That even then, objetively, I admit it was at much a 5,5/10 or a 6/10), received tons of 0's and 2's from critics for a ton of stupid reasons. Undeserved reviews. I always disliked critics, and even more in the age of social media where everyone with a blog and 400 followers believes itself a critic.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

No the story doesn't have to be original, and "the Punisher in a skirt" isn't a bad premise, but if the execution is bad, the movie is bad.

This movie is hilarious to me. On the one side I have my liberal friends on facebook whining about latinos being the bad guys and how this movie is right-wing fear mongering, while on the other side my right-wing friends are calling it SJW-bait with "stronk wymen" being shoved in to a man's role for the sake of "pandering to liberals".

You all suck. This country sucks.

Is it the Dolph Lundgren Punisher movie from 1989? No, it's not, so it's an adequate Punisher movie at best.

From what I've read, it has a lot less to do with just "the Latinos are bad guys" and just how far they push stereotyping on the matter. Stuff like having the villains operate out of a pinata factory and other thnings that feels like the movie is trying really hard to villainize the culture rather than write actual villains.
