Title says it all. I am foolish enough to contemplate converting storm guardians. Who has suggestions for alternate models/weapons?

I used Black Ark Corsairs. Just gave em Eldar helmets. Well, DE in my case. If you leave off the crossbow bar, their guns look space-elfy enough to me. Of course you could just stick the Storm Guardians upgrade arms on them instead for a more Craftworld look.

While I'm not familiar with the Dark Eldar range, I'd probably look at stealing bits from there? Eldar (despite being popular and a very strong army) are still in their bizarre model quagmire....and have been for nearly 10 years at this point.

Also, inexplicably there is very little if any resin support for 3rd party model options outside of the random Farseers, and some bikes (and Warp Spiders). It's a shame I can't find cool resin bits for my Eldar the way I can for other projects.

I am pretty curious about your decision to try Storm Guardians (I've considered doing some as well...). I think they're pretty garbage, lol.

I am obviously not the OP, but he might be in the same boat as me: I'd consider adding a Storm Guardian or two to my Kill Team roster--but there's no way I'd do it if it meant buying a box of Guardians and the GW conversion kit to get at most 2 or 3 models.

Yep, Kill Team is why I made mine.

Haha! They are complete garbage! I like converting however, and have a friendly table, so not every decision here is based on efficiency etc (I save that for local tournaments, where my IG and SOB tend to smash people, and although I CANNOT stand super heavies in the regular game, I pray each time to meet mr 4 knights at 2k, because they are an easy massive win for those armies).
Part of my storm guardian theory is they are cheaper...56 points to fill a troop slot with something that can still benefit (although weakly) from shuriken weapons etc. I know...24 points cheaper than guardian squad, but the whole model count (3 troops for 24 models vs 30 etc etc) has me thinking about it. I have 26 guardians, and really do not want to buy more (I also have 15 rangers, so could reach 6 troops this way) Also, that 48 points I am saving (2 8 man storm guardians) is critical in my build for another warlock to buff them. I decided against Dire avengers in smaller units. Just my own theory.
I really have no argument for the "Guardians are better" thing, but a lot of the warlock powers go to melee, so maybe I make up that way...in truth I can see them as only slightly worse (1 shuriken attack vs 2, but 2 CC vs 1 at basically same range and if I add +1 to hit or wound in CC phase, maybe worth more (the lack of AP is a HUGE drawback, I know))

I also agree with the strange lack of 3rd party support for eldar about. I managed to find some AOS bits I will use.

Oh I feel you on just making them for fun, that's why I've considered some myself.

I just can't figure out why - out of all the 40K races, the Eldar are hurting the most for quality models kit across their basic and elite infantry units. I understand why we get nonstop Imperium/Marine resin kits from various manufacturers. I don't understand why everyone else is obsessed with making nothing but Ork resin and Imperium resin.

Even a simple kit of resin arms for storm guardians would sell fine, alternate Eldar-esque heads, or simple resin psykers (with varying head pieces and equipment). I see W. Artel is going in that direction with a few, but the absolute lack of resin aftermarket support for even the most minute Eldar needs is just a bit odd (since it'd have to be one of the most desperate markets).

Elbows: I cannot tell you how frustrating the lack of Eldar bits is to me. There are dozens of companies doing alternate heads and arms for Imperium. I so desperately want a set of Eldar heads without helmets that are not punk rockers (Dark Eldar) or have wild nutcase hair (Wood Elves)

Shapeways. There is a guy forpostd6 who does all the necessary bits to make Storm guardians.

There is another alternative not mentioned yet that has plenty of normal swords and shuriken pistols - Harlequins. All you need to do is fill the arm sockets and apply the arms. You might want to trim down the gloves/sleeves, and tweak them a bit with a little green stuff, but they're in scale and proper for the case.

Yeah, Harlies are a good source of weapons.
It'd be better if there were more sources for Shuriken Pistols, and other Eldar weapons, but I did see a user on shape ways who made guns, including stuff like the Reaper missile launchers and firepikes. I just don't remember their name.
