As we all know, the Calth and Prospero boxsets have been wound up. Rumours are circulating of a repackaged intro set devoid of all the little card/template games that can be produced without GW having to dash to the printers for bulk batches.

So the question must be, assuming that's the case, what would be in it?

My bets rights now would be to keep it all plastic and simple. So 20 MK IV marines, 10 MK III marines, a Contemptor Dread or a set of terminators, and the Praetor from the Calth set. Package it up at a decent discount, and you've got a nice intro box for any army.

Perhaps a get started box? £50 for a tactical squad, terminator squad, contemptor and character sprue. Could do a mkiii with catapracthi box, and a mkiv with tartaros.

The weak rumour was plastic jetbikes & rapiers (White Scars & Iron Warriors) in the next HH box, but I can see MK II now they've discontinued the resin.

If it's Mk II in a new box set, I'm wondering if they're going to do Salamanders or Iron Hands versus World Eaters. That combo just makes more sense to me for Mk II Marines. What would go with it though?

MK4 dreadnought (just thinking of other kits that have gone)? Assault marines for World Eaters?

I really really don't think we will ever see plastic mkii, with the focus being on heresy era and mkii long being a relic by then. I doubt we'll see any more plastic troops. Primaris marines really have had an negative impact on the sales of small marines.

I don't expect to see a HH starter set anytime soon, at least not until there are 8th Edition rules for HH, as I don't see GW wanting to promote what is essentially an older edition of 40K.*

That said, I can foresee two possibilities for new HH starter sets:
1. Something with a Mars theme, allowing them to reuse the plastic Skitarii they already have, along with the possibility of plastic Thallax.
2. The Siege of Terra. This is where they could bring back some MkII armor, and maybe even some new Chaos marine models.

*Come to think of it, that may very well be a reason why they dropped the Calth and Prospero boxes, as it was, in a way, promoting a different edition of 40K.

If we won't see any more plastic troops, especially for the MK II which is commonly used in the istvaan battles and early heresy then i'd call this game done for. The MK III is just an up armored mk II for assaults/boarding actions and is clunky, the mk II is more iconic to me. And the plastic contemptor is a lousy model, they should have done a proper full contemptor kit. Plastic thallax would also be a dream, love them much more than the current skitarii models.

Umm not really, MkII was still in wide spread use at the beginning of the heresy. MkIII was just a up armoured version of MkII and MkIV while being rolled out was still in very very early distribution and being diverted to those who had already declared for Horus.

I would LOVE to see plastic MkII as it's my fav of the HH era armours. Will we see it in plastic probley not but one can hope.

If they were planning plastic mkii they wouldn't have discontinued all of the legion shoulder pads for it.

If we see a new box set I'd expect mkv. Plastic jetbikes / raipers would be awesome.

More likely we will get getting started style sets, using repackaged bits from the boxed games. As they would require no new outlay from GW other than printing some new boxes.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

I'm sure hoping that if they release a box set it has Mk II marines.

My Iron Warriors are sitting sad and unfinished on my table, same with their cult militia buddies.

I'd also hope it comes with an update to the 8th rule set, if nothing more so I actually have people to play with.

Mk 2 would be nice, but Mk 5 would be interesting as well. A Shadow War type of set would be awesome.

The thing that's always puzzled me is that they did two different armour marks of bolter-Tacticals despite the fact that the generic Legion list has three different compulsory Troops choices; I'd really like to see plastic Breachers or a plastic dual-purpose Assault Squad with options for a normal backpack to make melee Tacticals. Right now any melee Legion is more annoying to start playing, just because of the problem of finding chainsword arms.

We're more likely to get a new plastic 40k CSM box than a Heresy-branded Mk.V box, but that's all right given that they're basically interchangeable already.

I don't really think there's another HH box on the horizon, though I'd love to be wrong. While I don't currently play 30K, my entire CSM Renegades force is HH based and of all the marks...the MkIV and the MkIII are actually my least favourite. Would have loved II, V, or even VI....so I'd love one more go.

Give me all the studded and rusty armour...all of it.

I would love another plastic HH boxed set. As others have said ideally with other units than just tacticals. The trouble is, as a standalone box it's hard to come up with a game that isn't too gimmicky to provide the variation of units. The only other option is obviously to have 2 named armies that are themed (e.g Raven Guard with assault or Scars with Bikes etc.). Hopefully they wouldn't have those legion insignia on the shoulder pads so anyone could get them, but I'm just thinking in terms of how they would release the box.

I suppose some kind of boarding action would be good, with breachers.

I know others have asked for the plastic Rhino in Deimos pattern, and I'd love it to, but I'm not sure how likely this would be bearing in mind you can just use the 40k Rhino with a tiny storm bolter modification and say it's a different forgeworld pattern.

A quick fix would be if FW just released some jump packs/breacher shields that were compatible with the current plastic range without having to buy the resin marines as well

Jump packs would need torsos for the straps, and there's the old Boarding Assault Upgrade Set if you want to add shields (plus many 3rd party options for both).

We wont see another HH box set as they wont make any new ''old'' marines. That would be a net loss for them compared to the new and fancy primaris marines

Eidolon already has a model so I don't think they would re-release him in plastic. I'm surprised they did Ahriman in the Burning of Prospero boxed set to be honest rather than a generic sorcerer, especially as the wolf character was basically Bjorn in all but name - basically saving him for resin. Forgeworld originally stated they wanted to make models for all the named characters in their books as well, so maybe they'll go back and make Ahriman in resin as well, a lot more dynamic like the other fellow.

I don't think Lucius has rules yet, but maybe they're saving him for another book and I would assume he would be resin. I know they're more expensive but I like the fact that the named characters of the serious seem almost more 'exclusive' being FW models (don't get me wrong would love a price decrease!), so i'd rather not see any big names in a new plastic box.

The trouble is they seem to spend the time developing games around these boxes, I don't know about anyone else but I never played Calth or Prospero, just wanted the minis, so just a bundle with some new plastic units and maybe some terrain or a scenario would be good. Perhaps as an actual starter into Heresy with a small rulebook

What about MkVI? That armor would have huge crossover potential. Much more than MK II. People scour bits sites just to be able to build whole squads of MK VI. That would be a much better choice overall than MK II in my opinion.

But it's looking bleak for 30k right now. The BL is starting siege of Terra and there is only really one legion left for major release (Although we are still missing 3 primarchs).

I just don't see another big boxed game for HH coming out.

A smaller Start Collecting box is far more probable.
