So spinning off this thread: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/720601.page

Been playing with rules for Imperial Knights in BattleTech as the new Adeptus Titanticus models look very compatable with those for BattleTech. Alternateively could use them for 40k scale clashes between Knights maybe.

Anyway thoughts and comments welcomed,

Next up Armiger (35 tons) and Dominus class (100 tons)

Interesting idea. Coincidentally I was musing tonight on statting up AT Knights for Mobile Suit Skirmish... great minds, and all that.

I agree with Armigers being around 20-35 tons, but why are Knights at 100? Is this just a guess or from some actual measurements from 40K?

Personally, if I were converting from 40K, I’d put Knights at 50 tons, Reavers at around 75-80 tons and Warlords at 100.

Also, some of the weapon damages seem on the high end - I suspect a Plasma Decimator is BT’s equivalent to a PPC, for example, and Volcano Cannon might be a match to a Gauss Rifle in damage. Gatling cannon should probably work like an LBX, splitting damage into 3 or 5 point increments.

I think the weapon damage figures seem about right, the weapons will take a few turns at least to punch their way through the armour and internal structure without it being an auto-win for the first big-gun to get in range or taking forever to wear the armour and shields down. For the Avenger I'd be inclined to use the RAC-5 for inspiration rather than an LBX, if nothing else thematically the LBX are more like a Mech sized shotgun whilst the RAC are supposed to be a multi-barreled autocannon and would give the player the option of firing single shots or sustained bursts.

I think you need to clarify what you mean by the term "Adjacent Hexes", does this mean that this only applies for hits taken from base-to-base range? Does it mean that the defending player can chose which three hex facings apply? Does it mean that the incoming fire can potentially hit the target and targets in any two hexes around it? It's just not clear and as it stands I could see any of those three interpretations applying. I would personally drop this term altogether. Ion Shields either defend against hits from the front arc, or either the left or right side and rear arc with the player to set this at the start of their unit's movement phase, it amounts to almost the same thing when you look at what it means for the direction of incoming fire but avoids the potential for additional confusion later on. There's no need to refer to it all with regard to the Avenger, if multiple shots hit then they all impact on the same hex facing, it just gives you up to six chances if you're lucky to roll a 2 or 12, or hit somewhere already stripped of armour.

The Heavy Flamer is very effective compared to its Battletech counterpart where for Mech-Vs-Mech combat it's probably the worst weapon going, I'd be inclined to drop the range down to being on a par with the Stubber and/or reduce the damage slightly but have it inflicting some Heat on its opponent as well.

Thanks for the feedback- its all WIP but some thoughts

My previous weapons conversions were more like standard Mech weapons but it was pointed out to me that Knights usually only have a couple of primary weapons.

75 tons seems about right given size and scale for the Standard Knights - the Dominus class are bigger - so 100 tons again seems right. A Warhound is 400 tons in lore and might just be doable in BT - a Reaver is going to be around 600 tons and a Warlord about 1000 tons

Thanks for the Shield thoughts - will consider this!
