There hasn't been any big tournaments in the Northeast of the US for quite some time. Has anyone seen postings or rumors of them coming back? With prize support as a thing again I hoped they might come back soon.

How far north along the Northeast are we talking? Because as you move down you've got a few coming up fast right now. Portal and BfS as noted above, plus Steel City Showdown in Pittsburgh and Da Boyz in Rochester, both in November.
You may have to drive a few hours south depending on where you are exactly, but there are plenty within a reasonable distance.

Yeah it depends on where you are, as your comment is a bit confusing. The NE has had several annual majors a year for over a decade without interruption.

I hadn't heard of those before for some reason.
Boston & NH used to have a couple, but sounds like those dried up (which is weird because Boston is such a big city). There were others in Albany, too that I haven't seen in years, but i'll check these out.

It sounds like you are in Boston. But if you don’t mind traveling the Steel City GT in Pittsburgh is coming up. I attended last year (and plan on attending this year), it was a great event and I met players from all over the northeast.

I know Adam has been running the Golden Sprue Cup for the past few years. Its up in Albany and a Major 2 Day event. I think it runs in January.

There's a ton of smaller events in local stores surrounding Boston. Facebook is probably the quickest way to search any of the following:
Midgard Games in Derry NH
Legends Games in Littleton MA
Battlegrounds in Saugus, MA, Abington, MA & Norton MA
Alpha Omega Hobby in Quincy MA
Whiz store, Marlborough MA
Off the Wall Games, Amherst MA
Gardner Game Knights, Gardner MA
and That's E in Fitchburg MA
and I'm sure I'm missing some. Getting on any of those stores FB pages will get you info on larger events/tournaments.

Check out Black Moon Games in Lebanon, NH 2.5 hours from Boston. They usually run a small monthly 40k tournament.
I miss actual DakkaDakka in Manchester, NH. That was an amazing place and the Wakelin family was great.
