What changes do you see in Blood Angel’s army lists and in game tactics? To me it seems like we took a hit but I like the new first turn all your units count as being in cover stratagem.

Could Mephiston and the Librarian dread see more play? Death Company with either a 2+\6++ And a 12 inch pre-game move could be pretty strong with the new cover stratagem and forlorn fury. Is taking that guard battalion for extra CP even more important now?

I just assumed the new BA tactics would be to cry in a corner hugging a full size body pillow of anime Sanguinius.

I have been playing all-infantry BA and whilst losing T1 DOA is a pain, giving everyone a 2+ save without worrying about cover will help a bit (although I usually play on boards with enough terrain that this is not too much of an issue.

It might tempt me to try a few more vehicles. Having Aircraft with a 2+ save on T1 and Landraiders with a 1+ save seems interesting.

The whole thing reeks of GW treating a symptom of the problem and nerfing us into the bargain because they do not want to address the basic problem that soup is far more powerful than mono.

Soup encourages people to dabble with more armies than they would if they had to buy a complete 1500-2000 point army in one go. GW have a vested interest in not fixing soup because soup sells!

I've quit trying. Soup all the way now. Although now the debate is there a single BA unit worth souping in now? I might end up IG/IK.

We can still turn one doa a unit with wings of fire can't we?

Yes. For 4 CP.

Armour lists got the biggest improvement thanks to reduced going second vulnerability.

Actually looking at LandRaider termie egg lol.

Land raiders got a nice boost. But everything that can go in them is ass.

Razorbacks too. Being able to shrug off missle launchers on 4+ and lascannons on 5+ going second is great.

3xscout 3x razorback could be a place to start.

The standout thing with the BA termies is the termie standard bearer 5+++, and the +1 wound. Now that assault units don't need to have fly, could be worth a look.

I don’t know what the rules are for the Forgeworld models but it looks interesting. Would it function almost like a gun line until the enemy closed in and then you could counter attack? I like Corbulo considering you aren’t using jet packs. You have 14 command points to start off which seems really good. Does the Primaris Captain have any equipment?
I’m curious, why scions over infantry squads?

I feel like it would work much better as a Dark angels list tbh.

The Deredeo is like a bigger, badder Helverin with a 5++ bubble. Yeah it's a gunline that has a little bit of melee punch if the enemy gets close enough that you can shoot and charge to finish them off, or if they get locked in combat. With Corbulo, just the Hellblaster squads have about 75 attacks on average that wound T4 on 2's plus the rerolls. No, none of the units have optional equipment. Scions are used as sacrificial downfield objective grabbers, though you could just as easily replace them with infantry squads as a screen, but the scouts work as a screen as well should you need it.

What do Dark angels give me besides the 4++ bubble and the plasma stratagem?

The Plasma Stratagems are pretty useful /: And in addition to the 4++ bubble Azrael allows you to reroll all failed to hit rolls, not just ones.

Have you considered devastators for hellfire rounds/flakk missiles with the signum and armorium cherub?

Are Storm Ravens much more viable with the turn 1 cover stratagem?

What are the best assault troops now?

It is a good stratagem, I just think you get a lot more total group buffs out of Blood Angels. I don't know if total re-roll to hit really matters that much since you only use it on 2's when you aren't supercharging, which you're probably gonna be supercharging a lot. I do like the Devastators for that, they could be worth working in, for sure. I think Blood Angels, being so heavily Fly-based aren't really going to do well assaulting period forward, outside of the units that get a ton of mileage like smash captains.

Dark Angels also have the Darkshroud Landspeeder, granting nearby untis a -1 to hit.

That definitely evens it out, then. DA probably is more survivable, but BA are going to be much stronger in CC.

That's even its out? Lol

Let's compare:

BA:
- 5+++ FnP
- Red thirst and +1's

DA:
- 4++
- -1 to hit
- reroll 1's and 2's
- better plasma
- can fall back from combat and still shoot shoot with a stratagem

It's not even close sadly...

Not a perfect comparison, I would say:

BA:

5++ Invuln
5+++ FnP
Strength 5
+1 to Wound
Reroll 1's to hit and wound (and you're not rerolling 2's to hit except for when you don't overcharge anyway)
75% chance to revive a model per turn

BA also get re-rolls 1s and 2s.

But in the end of the day, DA have the “better“ Hellblasters.

I think, that a big squad Interceptor with UWoF Gem is still good.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
@SevenSixTwo:
DA has a 4++ bubble, model wise, and not for one unit.

Otherwise, BA has the 5++ FNP bubble, also model wise.

Not sure what is better. : D

The Librarian Dreadnought and Mephiston could be better options now. Mephiston is pretty durable with a 2+/5++ (with. Shield of Sanguinius cast)cast) and a 5+ feel no pain. With a minimum 22 inch assault range with Wings of Sanguinius on the first turn. It should go off with warp cost of 5+. If you add the quickening you get an additional 3 inches and D3 attacks. Are our psychic powers our biggest strength now?

Losing the ability to assault over units isn’t good. But often a skilled opponent would have been able to arrange their screens so you couldn’t do that.

@Maxamato
Sure if you take Dante which is terrible priced compared with the DA Chapter Master.

Has anyone considered or tried Inceptor's? And if so how did they fare?
I'm hoping to get some as I've no FA in my army at all and I'm thinking of getting 4 boxes. I'm thinking of 1 x 5 bolter's and 2 x 3 plasma working around a Jump ancient banner and maybe backed up with some SG or jump melta vets and a jump libby throwing out some 5+ inv/+1A.
What do you think? Could this have potential to be a good mobile firebase?

I've not got much experience with them I've I'm honest but to get the most mileage out of the plasma you need a jump pack captain for re-roll 1s to keep the overheat going.

I've not really used mine since the changes to deep strike, they were a great way to back up a 1st turn alpha strike and the bolter versions helped clear chaff for you to charge through. I'm sure they can still work as they're reasonably fast but they are fairly short ranged.

You can still forlorn fury your DC for a T1 charge. When you hide them in cover they have a 2+ sv, with the new second turn +1 armor sv stratagem. Plasma inceptors work very well with a JP captain, overcharge, re-roll 1s. They put out a ton of damage, but die quite easily. Add a JP company ancient with the standard of sacrifice for a 5+ FNP.

I think he means, 2 for WoF and 2 for DoA, so it's gone from 3 CP for a first turn charge to 4. Pricey but it's not a massive increase really.

My Inceptors have done very well for me and I am adding more as we speak. If you are running plasma Inceptors then you need the Captain to reroll 1s or you will not make the best of their firepower. A Sanguinary Ancient (or Ancient with Jump Pack if you are running the Index) with SoS is great, as is a Sanguinary Priest/Novitiate for healing and resurrection.

I would probably run them with a squad of SG in front to share as many bubble auras as possible and dish out the heat in melee while the Inceptors come up close behind and provide fire support. Expensive but they hit like a freight train and are hard to kill.
