What size base is needed for a spined chaos beast? I want to convert one, but there doesn't seem to be much info available.

Okay, so I emailed FW about this. They said it wasn't supplied with a base when it was in production, therefore it has no official base size.

However, they also notes a personal preference of using a large oval or a 100mm round.

So, for size sake. Would the body of a plastic dragon ogor be a good starting point if I were using a 90x52mm base?

Pretty sure they were always on 150x100 in properhammer.

Dang, that's a knight base. Seems kinda huge for that size model.

Looks like it's closer to the size of a Blood Slaughterer. Which means the Riptide base is par for the course.

My Chaos Spined Beast did not come with a base. It tipped without it, so I used a 120mm oval base.

I think it's a little bigger (longer) than the blood slaughterer. I have a blood slaughterer as well around here somewhere and I can probably do a size comparison if you need one (and if I can find and unpack it).

That would be great if you could do a size comparison with the Blood Slaughterer.

Boy, did I ever misremember how big the Slaughterer is.

The bases are all large flying oval base size, which is I guess a 120mm? The flying stem is masked off because I'm still painting it, but that's a standard GW plastic large flyer base. Don't believe the perspective, the 2 plastic and the one MDF base are identically sized.

That's a great size comparison. Since I also have BS'. I really appreciate you doing that for me. I have my BS on 120x92mm. Which is what you have your Beast on.

I gotta lot of work to do with my conversion now lol.
