I think I understand this application of modifiers applying AFTER rerolls now but wanted to double check with peoples.
We'll take my Legion of Azgorh Tauruk with Black Hammer of Hashut for an example....that hammer can "reroll hit rolls for attacks made with that weapon".
If an enemy unit makes me -1 to hit in melee for example, but I can reroll all hits with the Black Hammer, and have used my Tauruk's Commmand Ability to get +1 to my hit rolls in melee....
Tauruk normally hits on 3+.
So I roll my 5 attacks, get a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Here's where I get confused, is this the correct way to do it?
I keep the 3,4, and 5, since those are all successful before a reroll and therefore before modifiers? Then I would reroll the 1 and 2; what if I got a 2 and 3 for example. The 2 would miss because it's after the reroll and after the modifiers apply (-1+1), and the 3 would still hit after the rerolls/modifiers.
Now this particular artefact says reroll to hit rolls, not reroll FAILED to hit rolls, does that in fact make a difference in the procedure? Or is the rerolling to hit rolls meaning I can reroll any to hit rolls I want, since I know what modifiers will end applying to them after the rerolls? (which if I was out of Command Points would make me hit crappier)
Seems like this applies in 40k too.
Thoughts and/or experiences or pertinent FAQs I haven't found yet?
Thanks!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and I found that some units specify rerolling FAILED thingies, for instance the Chaos Warshrine says if the prayer works for a mortal Khorne unit they can "reroll all failed to hit rolls".
