Screaming Shining Spear

I've recently been playing with a squad of 5 fire dragons and 7 howling banshees inside a wave serpent.
Obviously the dragons jump out and try to pop something big whilst the banshees charge in to something big to shut it down or infantry to do what they normally do.
What's your favourite filling for a wave serpent?

Dark Reaper with Farseer because of save against T1 shooting and charges.

Also Guardian Defender and Dire Avengers.

5 Dire Avengers and 6 Fire dragons with farseer and warlock support have been the best thing for me. The extra fire dragon usually pays off as either the exarch will survive or the extra melta gun was the reason that I finished something off for good. Plus I try to have 1 larger squad of dark reapers or fire dragons to make the psychic buffs worth more in their own serpent.

All in all Dark reapers are probably the best in general but D-scythe wraithguard are the most fun

I'm a fan of 5 wraithblades, a spiritseer, and a warlock. It creates a mini-deathstar unit that's surprisingly hard to budge. Not the most competitive build, but I like it.

Dark Reapers with two Farseers because it protects from Alpha Strike and lets them melt anything they want without fear of repercussion.

Yeah, when i read the small novel that is the Death Guard unit options and think about resolving the attacks from a melee-oriented min size death guard squad, the thing that springs to mind is "Accessible!"

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

Why two farseers?

Why not two Farseers. Lets you Guide/Doom/Fortune the Dark Reapers, and then throw out Smites and Executioners to help hit anything getting too close, and protects them from any and all Psychic attacks.

I haven't seen reapers being viable since 3rd ed. so I was curious as to whats the plan was. I gather you can't use psychic powers in the serpent either. (Figure my noob stage will last about 8 more questions then I'll be back on board)

Even after being heavily nerfed Dark Reapers are one of the most threatening units in the game. They can cripple or kill just about any other unit in the game.

Here is the full set up:
Deployment: Deploy the Wave Serpent with the Dark Reapers and 2 Farseers embarked.
If you get the first turn: Disembark everyone. Cast Guide and Fortune on the Dark Reapers and Doom a target unit if they are in range. Dark Reapers now get to shoot hitting on 3's and re-rolling hits (Guide) and wounds (Doom). This kills the crab.
If you get the second turn: Your opponent either fires their entire army into the Wave Serpent, which due to it's Serpent Shield is a massive pain to kill, thus sparing the rest of your army and potentially not having anything left to shoot at the now exposed Dark Reapers, or they ignore the Serpent. Once it's your turn, see above.

Sazzle,
Not only are Reapers now viable, they're now one of stronger units in the game.

And even crazier: Shining Spears are not trash. Not trash in the way a pot of gold isn't trash.

Those two units went from terribad to scary good.

As a Dark Eldar player that hates Eldar, I must be honest in my answer: Fire, carnage, and dead Eldar bodies.
