I just want the Sagitarum with their heavy-bolters combi weapons.
Give me some longrange firepower dammit!

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I think a lot of it is cool, but I can't afford that stuff. I'd like to say I'd add 1 or 2 units, but realistically I'd rather use that money building up a different faction.

have a 2k (well slightly over) Custard force here, if the FW stuff comes in would likely look to push to 2k with a few new toys from both them and GW proper (e.g. I have no bikes or terminators)
the grav tank probably as a first one, then the current Land Raider can be repainted for another marine force

That's not a question of if but when.
The entire Custodes range will get the rules in the next upcoming Imperial Armour, announced earlier this year.

Sagittarum would probably be the main draw, giving some firepower to Custodes that they currently lack. But that all depends on rules and points.
Same for the Contemptor Dreads.

They're taking a loooong time producing what should be a short and sweet book, but my dreads are feeling comfy with the trial rules for now at least!

Fires of Cyraxis was announced quite some time ago if that is what you are referring to. Sadly new IAs seem to be on the back burner following Alan's sad passing.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

I might take my Caladius and Achillius out of the closet they've been gathering dust in since my local 30k community dried up long enough to discover that they're still not very useful and put them away again.
The beta rules we've seen are terrible. "Here! Take a Land Raider for 30pts cheaper that gets half the guns, fewer Wounds, T7, and a 3+ armour save! You get to trade all that for Fly!"

No, they've announced a new Imperial Armor: Talons of the Emperor, FoC was pushed back (again) to make room for the Emperor's laziest.

Hey, it means rules for people wanting to do Sisters Of Silence too. That's not a terrible thing ya know!
Still, Fires being pushed back a lot is obnoxious. I'm betting we get a new Chapter Tactic as well so I'm all for seeing if I want to use my stand-in Carab.

Quote this for truth.
I currently have 24 Sagitarum Guard, but don't play 30k. I think a force of these guys (if they can take the power knife thing) would be brutal. They are silently waiting their time in the sun, along with 6 Aquillian Terminators, but at least they can proxy as Allarus Terminators.

I already use some of the forge world models.
I think we'll probably see a points drop in the tanks and maybe the dreadnoughts but see a points increase with the Shield Captain on a bike and the Vertus Praetors with the new Chapter Approved.
All the more reason not to buy into any army until after the chapter approved comes out. The army will be totally different.
I have no interest in Sagitarum but I do hope that the specialty spears become available so I can make better use of regular custodes.

I'd like to add a few units, mostly for flavour and to help alleviate one of the Custodes main weaknesses - ranged fire power.
I'd like sagitarum guard for anti horde fire without relying on jet bikes. Adding either the Telemon dread or grav tank would be nice for anti tank. Even though they have beta rules, the grav tank is over costed for its rules (6++ and no POTMS means as it stands, the Telemon is the better anti tank, but you are forced to run a dakka Telemon as its close combat ability is extremely over costed and it has far too little attacks.)

I like the spears, but for some reason I am drawn the concept of the Power fist and Lightning Claw like weapons the Custodes have in their 30k rules. If you could take one or two of those in each Custodes unit almost no one would want to be in combat with that unit.

I don’t mind Power fists and lightning claws, but I’m kind of glad they don’t have them in 40k. It separates them from 30k and space Marines a bit.
I would like to see the option of spears and shields though. That would be amazing.
Also kinda want to see jump pack custodes

I already have a Telemon and Achillus and they're pretty decent, but a bit overpriced. The transport and grav-tank are just awful, overpriced garbage in an already costly army, but would reconsider if they got decent rules.
Would love a squad of Sagittarum Guard however. Does anyone have any idea on when we should expect this new IA? This is the first time I've heard of IA: Emperor's Finest, but if it's going to be like Cyraxes and just keep getting pushed back, I won't be getting my hopes up anytime soon.

I think it was revealed back in April time? About the same time that the necron super heavy was first shown so that should help you guess the release times roughly.

Yeah, it was around that time.
Worth noting that the production times for models and books are likely to be vastly different. I know for the FW Heresy black books, they have often been delayed due to them having to be shipped from China.
As for Cyraxes, the last info on that (which came from a chat with Andy Hoare at an Open Day) was that Andy had written it, largely in his own time, and pre 8th which changed the background, and the meant the story/campaign did not fit the current setting. It therefore needs a rewrite, but unless Andy wants to do that again in his own time, it has other competitions for development time - especially given that (as a fan/fun/personal project) it was never fully planned into the FW Studios production schedule in the first place!
As for Custodes, I'd probably add something to the 30k stuff I've got, as I've been meaning to add some but as its more difficult to get a game now, hobby budget has been allocated elsewhere!
