As asked above, are objectives on the battlefield counted as terrain? Asking from a Sylvaneth point of view, if I would or would not be able to place my trees within 1" of them, or 3" away if using a summoning effect?

I was unsure of the answer myself, and since my opponent and I were both rather new, I erred on the side of caution and said that I can't place them right on objectives.

How is it ruled? How do people's local gaming groups play it? The way I see it, if you were allowed to place them on the objective, you would just replace the objective on top of the trees, where it should have been.

They are not terrain. However many tournaments have restrictions on where faction terrain can go relative to objectives.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Q: If I use a model for an objective marker, does it count as a
terrain piece? Can it block visibility or affect the movement of
a unit?
A: No to all questions. An objective marker is simply
an object you use to mark the location of an objective
on the battlefield. If you want to move a model to the
location occupied by an objective marker, it is perfectly
acceptable to move the marker to one side as long
as you measure distances to the objective using its
original location.

We play it like most tournaments do in that you can't place faction terrain on top of objectives. We have a 3" rule.
