Hey fellas. I'm looking at getting a 6'x4' gaming mat for a table. I've found Gamingmat.eu so far which does some beautiful mats but they come out at £59, found another site called deepcutstudio.com and they do mats a lot cheaper.

Was just wondering if anyone new of a great sat for great quality mats for a reasonable price, both the sites I have found are great. However, if there is a gem of a site out there then I'd be more than happy to be pointed in that direction.

Deep Cut Studio is the same or more expensive, what you saw price-wise was not their Mousepad/Neoprene version.

The long and short of it is...there is no shortcut. If you want a Neoprene/Mousepad 6x4 gaming mat you're going to pay around $85-100 depending on where you live and what your shipping options are.

The ones I own and can highly recommend are:

Deep Cut Studio
Urbanmatz
Gamemat.eu

The only ones I can't recommend are Fat Mats/Tablewar...mainly because the ones I've seen had very poor art by comparison. Only seen a few, but none of them impressed me. They're very popular here because they're US based.

Yes I realised the prices soon after posting, it wasn't based on the 6'x4' either! Thought it was too good to be true, the pricing isn't a problem to be honest. But like to save money where I can so thought I would ask.

I will most likely go with Gamemat, the options they had appealed a lot more to me. But I will check out Urbanmatz so thankyou!

Yeah the old "Ohhhhh, $25!?"..."Ohh....$85..."

While it doesn't help in the UK I did contact Deep Cut Studio and US buyers can email and request a VAT refund. Urbanmatz automatically discounts mats to the US by removing VAT. Not sure about Gamemat.eu. Of my mats, the Urbanmatz have probably the best art --- I believe the guy who runs it is an actual graphic artist. Most other companies you can see the photoshop layers a bit more, but the three I mentioned are still very good. Also worth noting that some of these companies buy art from other artists so their line of mats may be inconsistent depending on the quality of the original art.

If you look at Pworks - they have some really nice art, and then some really friggin' horrible art. I can't comment on their quality of mat though since I don't own one. They just seem to have the most inconsistent art.

PS: While there are a few minor quirks...if you have the funds, a double-sided mat is not a bad investment either. However you lose the rubber grip, the ease of rolling up, and the discount isn't as much as I would hope. Worth considering though if you have limited space.

I got a mat from Mats by Mars.

https://matsbymars.com/

They are a vinyl style mat with nothing on the underside, but they offer the matched play deployment zones overlays.

I got the Mechanica one and the zone marks blend in well to not as to be too obvious.

Been open on my table with nothing holding down the edges for just about a year now with no curling of the edges that I have seen on many other vinyl mats.

I've got a few mats from gamemat.eu and they are very high quality, highly recommended.

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

Keep your peepers open for sales. They rotate a lot. If you throw in some minis to get it over $100 you get free shipping.
