Hi All,

I am new to Necrons having mostly played Guard and BA since i picked up Warhammer. I am trying to put together a competive list that can take on DE with max ravagers and space clown lists.

I like the idea of a wave of infantry moving up the board so have maybe put too many points into my troops choices but i kinda get stuck on wanting to always use certain units in my lists which certainly hamstrings me sometimes. Now the list:

2000 Pts

Battalion Detachment

Mephrit Dynasty

HQ
Cryptek - Chronometron
Warlord - Immortal Pride
Note: Im running this guy as my warlord as i want to keep the IP moral buff with my two big blobs of guys as they move up the field.
Overlord - Warscythe
Artefact -The Veil of Darkness
Note: this guy is going to jump up with the ten man squad of immortals to take a quick objective or to cripple an exposed enemy troops unit.

Troops
10x Immortals - Tesla Carbine
18x Necron Warriors
18x Necron Warriors

Outrider Detachment

Mephrit

Note: i cant really think of a better one for a destroyer heavy detachment. everything has fly, i want to keep them outof melee, they get reroll ones anyway, and they ignore -1 to hit when shooting heavy weapons. Any advise with this would be great cause i dont really want them within half range at any point.

HQ
Destroyer Lord - warscythe / Phylactery
Artefact - The Nanoscarab Casket
Note: From comments i have seen on the internet this is the best load out for this guy. Ive taken him over a lord for increased mobility which will keep him up with the rest of the destroyers if they need to move and damage output over a normal lord

Fast Attack
6x Canoptek Scarab Swarm
5x Destroyers
5x Destroyers
Note: Ive heard destroyers are good (not for my wallet through), Ive taken the scarabs to fill the detachment and to provide quick objective taking.

Super-heavy auxiliary Detachment
Tesseract Vault
- Antimatter Meteor
- Seismic Assault
- Sky of falling stars
- Transdimensional Thunderbolt

1997 points.

Ive noted that a lot of people are taking three doomsday arks. I could drop the destroyers and scarabs and he destroyer lord for three doomsday arks and a cryptek but the would just in the meta that i play in.

Any advise would be great.

Cheers,

A cryptek is easy to kill, dont make him your warlord. Overlords and destroyer lords are tougher. Sautekh can be useful for destroyers, they can still shoot after advancing. Make your tvault nihilakh, place it near an objective marker, and use reclaim a lost empire on it. It gives you +1 to your 4+ inv. You dont get the dynasty code with a tvault, but you can use stratagems, because it has the dynasty keyword.

Personally would have the outrider detachment as Nephrekh.

This allows you to deep strike the destroyers from turn 2 (dont get shot to bits before they hit their target)

And allows the scarabs and destroyer lord to auto advance the 6" so increases their speed on turns your not in charge range

This is ambituous.
I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket (Tesseract).
Instead, I'd grab as many tesla weapons as I could get.

Thanks for the advice guys.

The idea is my opponents will target the Tvault so the rest of my army survives turn 1.

Ive gone Mephrit with the outrider cause i want to castle my guys around the 5++ save from the Cryptek and the 4+ RP

The Warlord has been changed to the Overlord.

The Tvault will be Nihilakh as suggested.

I have also dropped 3 scarab swarms and 3 warriors to fit in two more destroyers.

New list below.

Battalion Detachment

Mephrit Dynasty

HQ
Cryptek - Chronometron
Overlord - Warscythe
Artefact -The Veil of Darkness
Warlord - Immortal Pride

Troops
10x Immortals - Tesla Carbine
16x Necron Warriors
15x Necron Warriors

Outrider Detachment

Mephrit

HQ
Destroyer Lord - Staff of light / Phylactery
Artefact - The Nanoscarab Casket

Fast Attack
3x Canoptek Scarab Swarm
6x Destroyers
6x Destroyers

Super-heavy auxiliary Detachment
Nilihakh Dynasty

Tesseract Vault
- Antimatter Meteor
- Seismic Assault
- Sky of falling stars
- Transdimensional Thunderbolt

1997 points

I could potentially drop the warriors for immortals

Cheers

From the little experience I have, I'd say that DE will struggle with warrrior blobs more than most, so you're on the right lines there.

They're also low on mortal wound output irrc, so Wraiths are a nightmare for them (also quick enough to chase the speedy buggers around). I'd consider dropping a unit of destroyers for wraiths.

I think you can keep the cryptek as warlord as long as you keep him wrapped in warriors. That frees your Overlord up for wandering off to hit stuff/veiling the immortals around.

I agree about making the Vault Nihilakh. DE have a ton of dark lances and blasters at their disposal, so making that vault as unkillable as possible is going to be important.

Good list though, let me know how it does (my primary opponent is DE).

Mephrit is a trap. You wont get much use out of it. You need to get movement dynasty. Novokh for the flat 6" advance is my bet.

Good luck.

Also agree that Mephrit is a trap, Necrons want to keep foes 24 inches away, not 12.. It's Nephrek that give the flat 6 advance.
