Yup- Microsol, solvaset, etc are wonderful products!

I first got acquainted with them applying decals to the sides of model railroad cars (HO scale); as fine as the detail was on those- especially the rivets- you could get the decal to snug right down. Your application is so good you can't tell there is a decal present!

Thanks guys! Yeah I can't believe I was doing transfers with only water and varnish before like a madman.

Reivers are more or less finished. I didn't want to put as much effort into them, because... they're shooty reivers... are they really gonna hit the table anytime soon?

Flesh Tearers,10th Company Vanguard, Squad 1. I am actually pretty happy with the company/squad role badges. I put a black transfer on the black shoulder and then outlined it in white.

Great work on the nids Gwyn. They look perfect, especially with the work bullets! The Reivers are cool too

Thanks Gobert! Looking forward to painting more Nids.

But first - have to pay for my sins with more Necron Warriors!

Blitzed my way through most of the process already; purple is done, green is done, bone is done, just have to shade and highlight the silver, than do weathering, finish the base, and OSL.

Looking great. What's your method for doing OSL?

Thanks Paddy! Nothing special on the OSL - I just do glazed shades, using more repeated layers and brighter layers closer to the light source. Maybe soon I'll experiment with using airbrushed OSL, but I'm still not very confident with the airbrush yet.

Finished warriors though!

Cool warriors Gwyn, must be a sizeable Necron horde you have now.

Altogether I think I own about 5000 pts of Necrons (obviously not all painted, and a sizeable amount barely painted to Battle Ready). I also own about 4800 pts of Space Marines, but most aren't even Battle Ready yet.

Complete change up time. It's time to try out painting some sneaky marshy orks! I've done the skin, scars, and lips. You can see my one "block out the colours to see how it works" guy as well to see how the larger scheme will go; brown leather cloth, armour and weapons will be black drybrushed metallic, and the shields will be a dull red drybrushed metallic. Very excited to watch these develop!

Thanks Olthannon! Skin is basically slapchop with some extra highlights for muscle definition.

The metallics and shield all came out great. This is a promising project.

Eyes, red accents, and some little more variation on the metallics with slightly corroded studs.

Wow! They are coming together really quickly and looking most excellent too. Some of these new minis really are made for slapchop as you’re demonstrating so well.

Quite an impressive points haul on the Necrons (and space marines), seems like a good milestone for an army pic too?!

Thanks gobert! Actually I'm just finishing up touch-ups on a unit... I still have a lot that's only barely table-top playable, but maybe worth doing a "state of the army" post.

Gutrippaz are finished! I had so much fun with these. I played with some light water-effects for the first time to get some murky swamp puddles. I need to do more shaping to be able to do actual banks for the puddles to make them even more realistic next time.

Just a quick update on a unit of Lychguard I did ages ago. They had metallic scythe blades, now I've updated them to be the same black-green with OSL as my more recent units.
