Hello everybody,

I have been out of the miniatures collecting and painting hobby for a looooong time, so please bear with me And even back then I did almost exclusively stick to 40K, so that doesn't exactly help in this case, either...

Long story short: I stumbled across a box of mostly plastic (with the odd metal one) LOTR miniatures by GW on a flea market. And while of course from reading White Dwarf and having watched the movies enough times I could more or less place most miniatures close enough to find out via google image search and dedicated LOTR miniature wikis what they were. But there is one group of minis I can't identify.

The material is plastic, there is no date or other marking on the mini. The whole rest of the lot was LOTR, so I assume (until proven wrong) that these unknowns also belong to the range. I also shortly contemplated that they are some kind of Undead/ Nurgle/ zombie/ ghouls/ plague victims from Warhammer. But somehow the weapons and the overall size look too small for WFB (at least for the ones I know from the past).

So a BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE for any kind help I am trying to get back into a bit of painting minis and alone for knowing what colours to use it would be nice to know the names

P.S. Anyone got a tip for a mailing list or forum for identifying unknown miniatures from other ranges (or is there a place like this on Dakka?)? I also found a small bag of metal Star Wars minis and even some pretty oldschool dinosaurs but no clue so far who manufactured them ^^

Haven't tried painting them myself, but you could give this guide a try:

Wow, that was quick, thanks a lot! Ugly buggers though, maybe I will have a look around for a somewhat different colour scheme...

Very thought- and helpful, I bookmarked it.

Welcome back to the hobby!

Thank you. Somehow the (somewhat pejorative) term "plastic crack" must have some truth to it. For many years I swore not to buy any more minis (especially as I always used to have way more than I ever painted..) But every time I passed by a shopping window with minis or similar places it tugged at my mind So now I have fallen victim to the "addiction" again. So this lot of LOTR minis was followed by the purchase of a bottle of Dettol to strip some of the (even to my more than humble skills) not too well-painted models Fingers crossed I am more motivated and disciplined this time around, but then it is not about gaming but really more about the painting aspect for me I guess

google "LOTR Collectors Guide" and download the pdf from one-ring as it has every single figure for SBG ever released.

Just did and saved it for future reference, thank you. Will be even useful as a general (starting point) painting guide, great!

I had used the CCM wiki (as I had known about it from the past) for identifying the rest of my LOTR lot, but in this case unfortunately exactly the miniature range from "The Hobbit" was missing, bad luck for me http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Lord_of_the_Rings_-_2001_onwards#2012
