Anyone else firing this up tonight? From what I've seen it does a decent job of capturing the feel and apparently uses the p&p rpg for It's underlying mechanics.

The Steam reviews didn't seem all that positive (Mixed, last I checked), but from what I've seen it looks VERY much like a video game adaptation of the boardgame.

I'm short on cash, but will probably get this in a few weeks, let me know how it is.

Played through the first 4 chapters. It's very much an adventure game. Not at all for people who aren't a fan of that genre. All observation and dialogue options thus far.

It's not cutting edge graphically and if you're not a big fan of the genre/Lovecraftian mythos I'd give it a pass. Even if you are it might be a stretch to say it's worth the full price so far.

Having said that, it's atmosphere is great. Story has been good but I've only just hit the first big revelation. Will report back after the next block of progress.

I can't wait to get it. I ordered a couple copies for the library system I work for, so I'm first in line for it.

Most of the early reviews on Steam that I read seemed like some folks didn’t know what kind of game they were getting. A few are griping about optimization stuff thats above my computer illiterate head.

Sitting at “Mostly positive” as of this post. I may get it later this week, unless Red Dead Redemption 2 keeps my attention.

Well, it's apparently very short (maybe 5-10 hours), with a Mass Effect ending to boot.

It sounds like it will be an easy hit or miss depending on people's sensibilities about Lovecraft and puzzles.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

I wonder if some people were confused about which game they were getting. There's another Cthulhu game coming, The Sinking City, and I think its trailer came out roughly the same time as this one. One certainly looked more "actiony" than the other.

I’m probably about 6 hours in, so far really enjoying it. It’s a dialogue/puzzle/stealth game for those wondering. The atmosphere and story are very much Lovecraft as one may expect, so fans will eat it up. Puzzles are just challenging enough to make you feel clever without being frustrating and the skill system is nice. My only criticism would be the animations are sometimes a bit janky but it’s easily forgiven imho.

Put in some more time today. Still really enjoying it though I wonder how replayable it is. Hoping placing the skill points differently alters the options/gameplay enough for some variety.

One funny moment from earlier. I had seen a review trashing a "boss fight" sequence as a tedious game of guess what to do while dying over and over.

When I got there you can find information which helps you determine what to do and while challenging in that the boss oneshots you if he gets a hold of you it only took a couple tries to figure out how best to avoid him and get past it.

I found that “boss” scene a little repetitive but it rewards pre-investigation and outside the box thinking.

I actually guessed the solution pretty quickly but getting the correct item during the encounter was tricky for me.

Finished my first playthrough. Enjoyed it. Going to head through again focusing on having a higher lockpicking and occult abilities as I missed a lot of areas/dialogue options from those two.

Hooray for gamebreaking bugs! Start of chapter 11, and I can't select any of the dialogue options. Quit and restart does not fix it. I had this problem before, but a restart fixed it then. Not now, though.

I really, REALLY liked the atmosphere and visuals at the end. I spent so much time just looking at the environment I kind of didn’t want to finish it for a bit
