I'm sure that I'm not the only one to notice that the MKV Marines and Cataphractii Terminators are no longer available on the GW site. Furthermore, any Forgeworld kits that are reliant upon either of these kits are also unavailable. What do you guys think? Is it yet another case of product being killed off, or could it be a reboxing like what happened with the Ork Nobz or Lootas late last month? Could it be something else entirely?

Mark III, Mark IV, Tartaros & Cataphractii Terminators are now in plastic and available from GW direct (the FW resin kits have been retired).

He's referring to MKIV being sold out online in US site I think. Though terminators are back in that case. He is specifically refering to GW site so presumably not talking about FW ones.

In any case it's just stock issue.

Odds are that it's just low stock levels awaiting another print run. It happened with Tyranid monstrous creatures and a few other things over the last year. Doesn't mean the model was being discontinued.

Yep. Orks are also in US having tons of their stuff out of stock atm(particularly heavy support). So nothing to worry about. GW doesn't keep huge stock as stock costs money so out of stock is to be expected time to time

Let me clarify a couple of things.

I did mean MKIV, my apologies.

Furthermore, when I say FW, I mean kits like the Alpha Legion Headhunters and the Thousand Sons Khenentai that are "No longer available" as per the FW site, AND expressly state that they use the MKIV plastic sets in conjunction with the resin upgrade kits which are still available. I apologize for the confusion.

Can you please double-check that? Both of those are showing as available to me (and I'm able to add them to my cart).

Edit: Ahh, the complete kits (which include the plastics) are unavailable to the US, but the upgrade kits are still there.

GW is going through manufacturing issues... a whole bunch of things have been out of stock for a couple of months, maybe more. A lot of Kill Team boxes, for example. I've never seen that happen before.

One rumor I keep hearing is that their HQ expansion has outstripped the electrical supply in that part of town, so part of the production line is sitting idle and they have to rotate product lines. Just a rumor.

They converted warehouse space into production space, but the local power supply couldn't cope so they set up their own solar plant. They're also looking at neighbouring land to build a new warehouse.

The MKIV plastic is out of sale in US but available elsewhere. As the full kit uses product out of stock...There you go.

It's just temporal hickup as they don't have storage and GW doesn't sell kit they don't have in storage with "comes when we get more". GW doesn't have infinite stock either(the more stock lies around the more it adds to their expense) and as mentioned they have issues with production speed so stuff is constantly out of sale for a while. Orks are out of mek guns and many of their walkers as well in 40k. I can assure you those aren't going anywhere though. Nor are MKIV marines. It just takes time for stock to come up.

That's so odd to hear about a $200M+ revenue company in 2018. Where did they set up their production line, 19th century England?

In Nottingham? 19th century is new-build.

A new electric train line was built passing their office, and the local power company is behind in it's upgrades and couldn't supply both.

UPDATE: So, I sent an email to GW customer support, and I was surprised to hear back from them with any meaningful information about the topic. Apparently they are reboxing some of the Horus Heresy models to reflect the 40K setting in a more appropriate manner. So, uhm, case closed I guess. Unless something to the contrary happens I suppose we should still have access to HH/30k stuff in plastic.

Slightly weird that. Making 30k fit 40k but GW's gonna GW.

It's not a good sign for the future of 30k if they're repackaging the models to be more oriented towards 40k.

It's not surprising, really. I think it's one of the reasons Calth and Prospero were dropped. GW likely doesn't want to actively promote a different edition of 40K.

Hopefully just a stock issue.

If not, there are other sources.
