Your blues aren't very smooth; it's not obvious in the photos if that's a subtle camo pattern or a result of slightly rough drybrushing. If it's a camo pattern I would make it a bit more obvious, otherwise I would suggest working on getting smoother coats of colour.

It’s a mottled effect from using a lighter coat of wash over large flat surfaces.

Ah, I see. Yeah, applying straight washes to large surfaces can be tricky. Sometimes drybrushing the basecoat colour back over the surface after the wash has dried can help reduce this kind of mottling, and also provides a sort of highlighting. Of course it helps if you haven't painted all the details yet so there's no risk of getting the drybrush on them.

There, completely finished with my Terrasaurs, and Khan is ready to Bro Down with Defender X against the forces of evil.

Got my first two monster game in with these guys last night even, facing off against Zor Magnum and Gurren Lagann. An early gambit by Khan had him super slamming Zor into a pair of buildings for six (6!) damage, but then they Alley-Ooped him for a return eight (8!!!) damage so it probably wasn’t worth it. In the end though a barely functioning Defender X managed to land several back to back rocket punches on Gurren Lagann to claim victory with only a single hit point of his own left.

Khan is fun, but man do I miss High Mobility when using him. The Dino units are Crazy good, and themselves accounted for a couple points of damage on Gurren.

Thanks! I’d been looking forward to doing this with him since I’d painted the very first jets and rocket copters.

I did super look forward to painting the eggs. Everyone misidentifies the reference though.

Oh? My first thought was "Yoshi"; it reminds me of Yoshi's Island actually. What were you going for?

I have no idea what that is.

I am noticing the laziness of using the exact same egg image with a simple colour swap - would it have killed them to vary the spot pattern?

I mean, you can see why Yoshi springs to mind for your photo, seeing as the eggs are sitting next to a green bipedal dinosaur...

Added some Empire of the Apes to my Protector forces so Hondo and Armodax can double down on the armor. I also used these guys to test bed the new Contrast paints, and they’re done almost entirely with those. I really like how they turned out, and may go back and repaint my G.U.A.R.D. with those because I was never terribly fond of how their wash came out.

Great looking Empire of the Apes. The brown is off of the standard green but I like it.

I was originally going to give them a standard green, but changed my mind because I’d already painted the Terrasaurs green. Want to try and keep each faction to their own primary color for as long as I can.
