I just got a Lord of Change today, and I was wondering whether I should give him a Baleful Sword or Rod of Sorcery? The Staff of Tzeentch is of course a given, but in terms of the other weapons, I'm torn. I want him to be tough on the battlefield, but I don't want to nerf his magical powers to a considerable degree.

S6 in close combat is really limited. Sword gives him S7, and a nearby herald gets him to the magical number 8. I think the sword is an absolute necessity, personally.

Also, run him with the impossible robe, or perhaps don't run him at all. The 3++ makes him pretty tanky.

He doesn't do nearly enough without a baleful sword to at least MAYBE have a chance at making some of his points back. He already comes with +2 to cast and you'll generally want a back field changecaster to be casting Gaze of Fate as your first spell for every psychic phase so psychic should not be a problem as long as he's on the table.
